Man, Ric Ocasek made some great music in the Cars and from what I've read, was a really nice man. Rest in Peace.

Cokie Roberts checks out at 75.

She was the daughter of Congresscritter Hale Boggs, who served on the Warren Commission - and vanished in a mysterious airplane crash in October 1972.
My New Year's resolution for 2019 is this year I'm not going to drink anymore. I'm not going to drink any less, either.

I was married for 25 years, but if I'd killed her on the honeymoon, I'd have been out in less than 20.

After reading all the horrible things drinking will do to you....I gave up reading.

robert hunter, lyricist for the grateful dead passed away today. as he wrote, "let there be songs to fill the air."

Robert Hunter, Grateful Dead Collaborator and Lyricist, Dead at 78

Considered one of rock’s most ambitious and dazzling lyricists, Hunter was the literary counterpoint to the band’s musical experimentation. His lyrics — heard in everything from early Dead classics like “Dark Star” and “China Cat Sunflower” and proceeding through “Uncle John’s Band,” “Box of Rain,” “Scarlet Begonias,” and “Touch of Gray”— were as much a part of the band as Jerry Garcia’s singing and guitar.
sound quality isn't great but here he is singing the last part of deal and also ripple

Jacques Chirac, French president (inventor of freedom fries) who opposed Iraq War, is dead at 86
"I'm telling my American friends beware, be careful," he said on the eve of the war. "Think it over seriously before you take action that is not necessary and that can be very dangerous, especially in the fight against international terrorism."
