Someone on BOL posted that he would be required to sit out the first 4 games of 2019. So that would make it a 6-game suspension total (including the last two games of 2018 season).

Saban said it was an NCAA violation, s probably PEDs. 1 year suspension if that is the case.

If it is just the first 4 games then it was almost certainly NOT performance enhancers that they found in his urinalysis. I imagine Saban will not comment until the NCAA gives their final ruling. I assume an appeal process is happening right now.

People are just assuming right now so the PED thing is rumor to me until shown otherwise.

PED would be the most significant penalty because he'd be out for the entire 2019 season. If it were PEDs, we'd be hearing his unexpected declaration for the 2019 NFL Draft soon.

Everybody is guessing, not assuming. But I agree that it could be almost anything. Sneeze in the wrong direction and you violate an NCAA rule.

or a failed drug test of the non-performance enhancing type. It's a rumor, but from a solid source who is usually right.
If it's a failed street-drug test, the penalty is suspension for 50% of the season in all sports in which the student-athlete participates - so that makes sense since they missed the last two games.

That's what I was thinking. Would be a 6-game suspension total (including last two games of 2018 season). Didn't Tony Brown get a 6-game suspension for this?

Not sure a guy that has started 4 or 5 games in his college career would be declaring for the draft no matter the circumstance.
