I would eat a few handfuls of barbed wire myself to have Bo Davis back.

He can't kick the ball for the kid. Banks actually won the special team coach of the year. Our kick-off and punt return teams were really good and it seems we covered punts and kicks good also. A special team coach does a lot more than just coach punting and kicking.
Alabama has been one of the best in the country at this since Saban arrived - also in returns. Banks had zero to do with that. He was brought in to help the kicking specialists. Complete failure on that front.

Three blockers basically watched that guy go through. They didn’t block anyone, just stood there!
Agreed. It wasn't going to work anyway - no way Bulovas was getting to the 17 yard line or better - but we fired off the line like a girl scout troop.

If he designed that play he should have been fired on the spot.
Based on his postgame comments, he liked the chance of success when the play was called right before the snap because of Clemson's alignment.

Yeah, that is crazy. They were in a standard defensive alignment. If he liked that alignment, he needs to find another line of work.

He explained it as they figured blockers could get to the second level easier since so many Clemson players were off the line. Still such a stupid call.

If you needed 3 yards, I would agree. You needed 6, and Mac Jones is one of the least athletic guys on your team.

Yep. The play itself isn't horrible with the staff's thinking, but it was a horrible decision for the particular situation.

Devil's advocate - he was the STC for the guy that set the new program record for most PATs made (Bulovas - 75).
So you are saying he missed all those PATs because his leg caught tired of kicking so many PATs.

Maybe he is hoping mama calls someday
JP is probably most like CNS of all his assistants in terms of personality, except Jeremy talks more like Coach Stallings than CNS.

I'll say this for JP: If he can get things turned around at Knoxville, win the east and ever beat us in the SECCG (while wearing the orange without getting drunk on the orange koolaid) he might just be coaching his way back to T-town one day.

Let's all be honest, though. There's one reason Banks could be fired:

I have not seen this view before but I now know we may have made it if 3 of our guys blocking their 1 guy makes their block. I don't think Banks is the one that called the fake punt with their defense in safe.

#79 should be fired based on his effort too.
That is Chris Owens. He actually apologized on Twitter to his teammates and to the fans. Basically said it's important to be zone in on every play. Didn't really understand what he was apologizing for until I'm seeing this replay. I guess he was either not tuned into the fake that we were running the fake or just totally gave half effort.

At the time of this play I was furious. I did see Ben Litvin on twitter explain that the call was made for a situation in which the defense would be in safe alignment. As others have said the number of people off the line opened up the possibility for the fake. That made me a little less angry, it does appear the play may have been there with a bit better effort from the blockers. I do think the distance was a bit too far and would've been better just to use our offense rather than attempt a fake. This would've been an interesting fake if Cade Foster was the kicker, he mightve been a better lead blocker than FG kicker haha.

From what I can tell with the overhead view, some of the guys were double teaming Clemson players rather than going to the next level. Either guys were already checked out or they didn't know the play very well.

Someone mentioned 45 earlier. That's Thomas Fletcher, the long snapper. He looks almost confused after assisting with a block for a half second.
