It's getting close! Alabama Baseball Opening Day is only 2 1/2 weeks away, which means that the Preseason Alabama Grand Slammers BBQ is right around the corner on February 9th. This year's event will once again be held in the North Zone of Bryant-Denny Stadium, and will serve as the cornerstone of a full day of Alabama Baseball.
Coach Brad Bohannon and the Tide will begin the day with a morning scrimmage at Sewell-Thomas Stadium, with start time & length to be determined by weather.
The action then turns to the BDS & the BBQ. Afterwards, fans will have the opportunity to head back to The Joe, where tours of the stadium will be conducted, including views of the new weight room equipment, purchased by the Grand Slammers.
Here is the schedule of the day's events:
TBA AM: Team Scrimmage
12:45 PM: North Zone Gate 1 opens for fans to enter
1:00 PM: BBQ Food service begins
1:30 PM: Team arrives to eat
1:30 PM: Welcome, announcements, & door prizes
2:00 PM: Coach Bohannon introduced, provides season preview & player introductions
2:40 PM: Closing comments & more door prizes
2:50 PM: Autograph Session
3:30 PM: Tours of Sewell-Thomas Stadium
We are pleased to announce that Mr. Baseball, Barry Allen, will emcee this year's event. Barry's knowledge of baseball, especially Alabama Baseball, is unmatched.
The Crimson Smokers will once again cater with delicious BBQ pork, twice baked potato salad, & cole slaw, headlining the menu.
There will be a table setup just inside the Zone for current Grand Slammer members to pick up their tickets There will also be separate tables for fans looking to join the Slammers and another for individual ticket purchases. Individual tickets will be $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 & under. Other than dues, this event is one of the main fundraisers to support projects identified by the staff, which has included the weight equipment.
Free 2019 posters will be available & are great for autographs, with door prize drawings conducted for numerous autographed Alabama Baseball items (bats, balls, etc..)
