Waiting on the "both sides" line followed by the blue font comment making fun of the "both sides" comment. Then we move to the "to be fair" line followed by the blue font version of "to be fair".

Just for giggles... I typed in Ocasio-Cortez in the YouTube search bar and went through the 1st 50 videos:

17 were from Fox 34%
9 were from random places 18%
7 from MSNBC 14%
4 from NBC 8%
3 from CNN 6%
2 from CBS, Washington Post, and BBC 4% each
1 from VICE, PBS, Guardian, and Time 2% each

It seems like Way more attention is given by conservatives on AOC than here own political side.

My thought exactly when I first saw the title. It seems to me that she's basically a creature of Fox News. As far as looks, she just looks like a Hispanic ethnic mix to me. That's all...

Is this going to be a repeat of Bodhi’s “I wasn’t demeaning that simpleminded little bartender” stance?
LOL! I don't recall labeling her simpleminded or little like you just did. Are you familiar with this concept:

IMO if someone is going to propose to reorder our economic system, that person should have a tremendous amount of wisdom on the subject. A PhD. Years of economic analysis at a university or a think tank. Many publications and awards. Similar to how you criticize global warming skeptics for not having depth of knowledge on the subject, I am critical of those with minimal education and no experience on the subject thinking they should be the leader on economic policy. It's really silly. AOC has some admirable qualities as a young politician, but her resume is extremely thin. In fact, she doesn't qualify to do my job in the government. I'm not being funny here. She doesn't have the required graduate education or relevant experience; she'd never even get an interview.

It's ok to criticize politicians. We have megathreads doing this very thing. I'm not sure why AOC is a sacred cow to some.

Honestly I don't understand why they are spending so much time going after AOC and Omar when Bernie and Warren are both actually running. You would think gearing up for a potential opponent in 2 years is more beneficial than gearing up for one in 10 years. But its like they are trying to find the new Hillary Clinton type enemy in which they had decades of hatred to dump on her when she actually was the Democratic nominee.

those crazy wimmenz are all the same
Nice attempt at a save but you just said they had "the same weird look" thats not a substantive point about anything.

Guess there's nothing left to talk about here.

i was discussing similarities I saw in two public figures. I said something you didn't agree with. Rather than refute the statement, you went straight to ad hominem disparagement -- disrespectful of women, and assuaging my own feelings of weakness by trashing someone else.

Obviously, both have to be true, because, well, what other explanation for such a cretinous statement could there possibly be?

No, it's not the way debate should take place. And yes, it is example 82,928,938 of why we can't have a civil discussion.

Here's my point about the eyes: it's the look of a zealot, and zealots of any stripe, regardless of color, personal plumbing, or political or religious belief, are dangerous. Zealots with power are incredibly dangerous. Ask the investors in Theranos, or the people who would have gotten six-figure jobs in the Amazon HQ how that works.

Rather than call the other guy bad names...racist, weak, misogynistic, whatever, let's keep it to the points. If you think I'm wrong, make a better argument.

I went back and looked. I just don't see these "zealot's eyes"...

I just went back and looked, and I see the same beady, unable-to-look-anyone-in-the-eye, egomaniacal look in both Trump and Hitler’s eyes.
Imagine that.

what was there to refute?

the debate you are wanting to have is "i think aoc's eyes look just like this other person who is a zealot, discuss". you don't really have a lot of room to criticize folks for not falling for that and joining you in "debate"

Still digging that hole and backpedaling those goalposts, I see.

Right? Not sure how "she's a stupid girl" or "she has crazy eyes" is the basis for productive policy criticism. Just own the fact that you were slinging out an insult and no one will care. Hell, when I say Trump is an idiot, I mean that as an insult his intelligence and I don't couch that view behind some thin veil of policy critique. To pretend otherwise is just weakness.

I agree with this. Trump, Limbaugh, Hannity and other Fox News sycophants have to drum up a boogeyman for the base to fear. What better candidate for their divisivness than a brown skin, socialist from NYC.
