TUSCALOOSA, AL –
Alabama baseball held on for a 4-3 win over UAB on Tuesday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the victory, the Crimson Tide extends its winning streak to seven games and is now 11-2 overall on the season.

"I don't think it was our best game of the year," said Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon. "We could have executed better offensively, but I was glad to beat a good (UAB) club. A lot of guys pitched well tonight; I thought Jeremy (Randolph) was awesome. He came in and cleaned up that mess in the ninth, and I'm glad we got the win."

Alabama entered the ninth with three-run lead, but the Blazers drew a leadoff walk, singled and then tallied another walk to load the bases, forcing a UA pitching change. Randolph was able to limit the damage, with the graduate closer stranding the tying runner at third with a strikeout looking to end the game in Alabama's favor at 4-3.

Randolph earned his second save of the season while starter Garret Rukes (1-0) tallied his first win on the year. The redshirt sophomore tossed 3.0 scoreless innings with three punchouts in the Tuesday effort. At the plate, senior Joe Breaux and sophomore Tyler Gentry each finished with three-hit performances, with Breaux adding a triple and a run while Gentry contributed a home run, one run scored and a team-high two RBI.

The Crimson Tide was first on the board on Tuesday afternoon, taking a 2-0 lead in the third inning. The frame began with a leadoff double from junior John Trousdale. A single in the next at-bat from Breaux put runners on the corners for Brett Auerbach. The junior reached on a fielder's choice to bring in Trousdale and get UA a run. A pair of walks followed to load the bases for Gentry, with the right fielder sending an infield single to short to bring across Auerbach for the second run.

Alabama added to the lead in the fifth thanks to Gentry's solo homer, his team-leading fourth home run of the season. The Tide posted a crucial insurance run in the sixth for a 4-0 advantage. Breaux led things off with a triple and came home one out later on a sacrifice fly from junior Morgan McCullough. The sacrifice fly was part of McCullough's 0-for-0 afternoon that included three walks and an RBI.

The Blazers posted their first run in the seventh thanks to a leadoff double and a one-out single to cut the lead to three. UAB then rallied for two in the ninth but Randolph's huge punchout on the 1-2 count secured the win with his second save in as many chances.

Alabama continues its homestand tomorrow afternoon with a matchup against South Dakota State. The Crimson Tide and Jackrabbits are scheduled for a 3 p.m. CT first pitch at Sewell-Thomas Stadium with the game airing live on SEC Network+. Freshman right-hander Tyler Ras will get the nod for UA while the SDSU starter is still to be announced.
