LOL, what a maroon...

The U.S. attorney in Los Angeles announced Avenatti faces bank and wire fraud charges in the Central District of California for allegedly embezzling money from a client and defrauding a bank through fake tax returns.

The U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York announced separate charges that Avenatti allegedly tried to extort Nike for $20 million.

In the California case, prosecutors allege Avenatti negotiated a $1.6 million settlement for a client but lied about when the payment was due to be made, telling the client it was coming two months later than it actually did. Prosecutors say he used the money in the intervening months to pay expenses for his coffee business and personal use.

Mark Geragos, alleged Avenatti co-conspirator, fired by CNN

A CNN spokesperson told the Washington Examiner Monday that its longtime legal analyst Mark Geragos is “no longer a CNN contributor.”

Geragos, 61, the alleged co-conspirator in the criminal case against celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti made hundreds of appearances on CNN while working for the news organization.
His firing was so hasty that CNN had not had a chance to update its website and still had him listed as a “legal analyst”. He has made numerous appearances on CNN, frequently discussing the notable and often polarizing figures he represents. He is currently representing Jussie Smollett, who is accused of faking a hate crime for his own benefit. Geragos appeared on the network this month to discuss the case.
During his career Geragos has also represented football star Colin Kaepernick, murderer Scott Peterson, the late singer Michael Jackson, and jailed Clinton associate Susan McDougal.

Colin Kaepernick's lawyer.......whose motto apparently is, "Be thieving something, even if it means losing everything."

I've despised Geragos since he actually tried to argue Scott Peterson was innocent AFTER spending months on TV insisting he had to be guilty.

Celebrity lawyers tend to be more celebrity than they actually lawyer.
