    Re: Coach Saban's Surgery

“Coach Saban underwent successful robotic assisted right hip replacement surgery this afternoon with our hip specialist, Dr. Benton Emblom and the team at Andrews Sports Medicine,” Dr. Cain said in a Monday afternoon statement. “Coach is resting comfortably and we anticipate a full recovery. He should be able to return to work in the very near future, and we’ll have him back out on the golf course, with hopefully a few more yards off the tee, as soon as possible.”

"We always talk about playing 60 minutes but this is a 60-10 game: the 60 minutes of the game and the 10 minutes in the locker room after the game that you remember for the rest of your life."

Nobody can claim "Don't ya'll take your football seriously down there?" as Coach Bryant famously asked when he called the Auburn football office one morning and got an answering machine.

I am glad to see Coach Burton Burns will be in Nashville for the draft standing in for Coach Saban.

Even for Nick Saban, hip replacement surgery requires a few concessions — but very few.

“I couldn’t drive myself to work this morning,” Saban said in a telephone interview from his office on Wednesday morning. “Cedric (Burns) came and got me at home.

“Terry was glad to see him, I’ll put it that way,” he added with a laugh.

Saban returned to work less than 48 hours after hip surgery that was performed by hip specialist Dr. Benton Emblom and Dr. Lyle Cain’s team at Andrews Sports Medicine in Birmingham on Monday afternoon, although he still has some restrictions as he begins rehabilitation.

“I had one day on the walker,” he said. “Now I’m on the cane. I’ll probably throw that (SOB) away tomorrow."

Saban took Tuesday off to recover.

..."I was home for six hours (Tuesday), and I was ready to jump off a bridge. Doing nothing was like torture. I don't know how people do it."

Totally amazed at the skill of surgeons who do miracles like this every day to ordinary, and not-so-ordinary, people.

Yep. My mom had both her hips replaced and the surgeons are amazing. I knew Coach would be back quickly since the re-hab people had her up and walking on her new hip within a half day or so after surgery.
