Y'all can laugh if you want, but I've got two words for you: Butch Jones.

Look, anyone who has coached a top D1 program has forgotten more about football than most any of us here will ever know, and I guarantee that even if Bowden is just dissecting film, he's better equipped to do so than almost any GA in the country.

Clemson didn't get worse by doing this.

Agreed, but this is still hilarious.

I get it, but at least Butch is an intern. Bowden is going to be a GA.

Yeah, and two more words for you: Ore-Ida. As in Saban's pronouncement, "Good thing Dabo got him interned up at an inflated rate, Ore-Ida hired him myself as nutritional analyst."

    1. Why is there such a thing as a degree or graduate degree in “athletic leadership?”

    2. Why is a 63 yo former head football coach of D1 trying to get this? His last chance to get that elusive A? Oooh oooh oooh call on meeeeee!!!!

Am i out of touch or just pretentious?

I don't really hate tater. Kinda always looked at him and said, "look at that cute rotund elf!"

CA is right. Any former D1 coach had something that got him hired - even if it was a lucky season or half-season. Bowden obviously knows football. What's laughable is that he's getting a grad degree in Ath. Leaadership at age 63 and is not paid. At some point, just take it the beach house and enjoy life.

I have nothing for or against Tater Tot personally. If I had to describe his trek from Samford to Akron it would be "Not Ready For Prime Time."

Re: Dabo Hires Tater Tot as a Graduate Assistant

When I first heard about this, I just thought it was bizarre. But I have come around to looking at this sort of like a sabbatical in academia, where I work. In academia, a senior faculty member can take a year off to go work in another colleague's institution to get new ideas and re-charge his batteries. Maybe Tater is taking a sabbatical. That said, I am one year older than Tater. And I have a countdown timer running on my computer counting down the days until I retire. I'm not planning a sabbatical.
