Not surprised that Memphis is favored - OM is not going to be very good this year and this ought to be one of the best teams Memphis has ever had.

I don't know what kind of team Georgia Tech is expected to have in 2019 but I'd be tempted to take them +34 against Clemson. The point spread might be a bit inflated because of what Clemson did last season. Clemson hasn't defeated Georgia Tech by such a margin since way back in 2003. Clemson might be a bit complacent and be thinking their season really starts the following week when they play TAMU.

Auburn -2.5 vs Oregon. FSU -4 vs Boise. S Carolina -7 vs N Carolina. Memphis -6 vs Ole Miss. Cincinnati -3.5 vs UCLA.

I am a little surprised by Ole Miss and UCLA in the underdog role. I would put both a favorite by at least 3 points.

Ole Miss and UCLA will finish in the bottom three in their conference(s). Memphis and Cincinnati are playing at home and will finish in the top three with UCF in their conference. I wish I could get both and 3 points.

Underdog Lock of Week One. Boise State+4. FSU is a dumpster fire. BSU wins SU. This line opened at 4 1/2. Will probably be even by kickoff.

The SBNation SP+ system has Memphis -3.8 and Cincy -4 but I think I would still take the P5 over the G5 although in the opening games the G5 does play with a chip on their shoulders. This will be a head-scratcher on pick 'em for me.

Memphis has got better the last couple of years.
Ole Sis is getting worse.
Ole Sis could win, but Memphis would be my pick.

If the Barn loses to the Ducks out of the gate the wheels might fall off early for them. But, I figure they'll squeak out a "W" with a lucky play or two.

Auburn has one of the best Dlines in the country coming back. I think Auburn's size is going to kill Oregon and it could be the biggest butt whoopings on opening weekend if Oregon doesn't score fast.

And that DL will be facing five guys with 153 career starts who are big and physical just like Cristobal likes them.

153 starts against the PAC 12 hasn't been impressive since 2005. Ive seen "experienced" PAC 12 teams get beat by "inexperienced" SEC teams over and over since then. I just don't have faith Oregon is big boy enough to beat this Auburn team that everyone believes will tank.

I have heard several people say this, but I am not really sure what that is based on. Auburn's D-line was terrible last year

I tend to agree, 81. I'll be rooting for the Ducks, but think it's a fool's errand until such time that a Pac 12 team shows it can hang with an SEC team in the trenches for 60 minutes.

That, and the fact that both Auburn and Gus tend to over-achieve vs. mediocre expectations. Of course, they consistently under-achieve high expectations, but that's not the case this year.

Cincinnati beat UCLA 26-17 in Pasadena last season. Phil Steel has Cincinnati at #1 in AAC-East over UCF. He has UCLA at #4 in Pac12-South behind Utah, USC, and ASU.

Phil Steele projects Memphis as the top G5 team playing in the Cotton Bowl. SBN has them tops in AAC 2019 S&P+ rankings.
