Going to Miami is a mistake which is why he jumped at our opportunity two years into his NFL HC tenure. I don't think he said anything that we didn't already know.

It’s like saying you regret marrying your ex-wife. But you wouldn’t change it because you got some amazing kids in the process.

You can have regrets about actions you took but still appreciate where you are

Well sure. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about Alabama. I don’t care to think about what it would have been like had he stayed.

If you look at the context of his comments it has to do with staying a college coach instead of trying to be an NFL coach.

I know that he definitely regrets leaving the college game and going into the NFL. I for one, though, am sure glad that he did!

Saban was the very coach we needed. LSU had him.

Don't forget there's an agent in the background that knew the SEC better than most who also helped.

Takes me back to the day he arrived in Tuscaloosa with Mal. The woman in the crowd that hugged him. Twelve years on I am still pinching myself. What a run.

Less about LSU and more about leaving the college game to pursue what he thought was his dream, only to find out that he hated the NFL and preferred working with student athletes.
If he had been coaching another school at the time, he would have said he regretted leaving that school.

That was my take on the full context of his comments.

It doesn't bother me. He regrets trying the NFL and he could have gone back to LSU if he wanted after they fired Les Miles. The man can coach anywhere he wants but chooses to stay at Alabama.
