800,000 Americans a year commit suicide. That is more people than live in southwest Alabama killing themselves every single year. We have so many issues in this country that there just doesn't seem to be answers for.

The answer is provide good, affordable mental health treatment and not allow insurance companies to ignore mental health treatment. Such treatment can be long and expensive but we must not allow mental health to be ignored and not considered part of a person. The insurance companies already don't recognize eyes, ears and teeth not being part of the body but don't allow them to do the same with mental health coverage. It is up to us to force the changes or vote for a form of universal health care to be available to those who want it while still keeping your own insurance if you don't.

"Oil field supply salesman" being his job likely contributed here. That is lonely, lonely work. Isolation can add to the crushing weight of mental health issues. I read a long story in either GQ or Esquire a while back about that industry and its high suicide rate. I'd google it, but that's a depressing set of search engine returns...
