it's hard to fathom running this fast for this far. i didn't think the 2 hour barrier would ever fall

Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge smashes two-hour marathon barrier





(CNN)Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge has successfully completed the first ever marathon under two hours in the Austrian capital of Vienna, two years since he fell 25 seconds short.

The 34-year-old ran the 26.2 miles in 1 hour, 59 minutes and 40 seconds at Vienna's Prater-Hauptallee (main avenue) -- an achievement considered one of the ultimate milestones in athletic performance.

(I think running this far this fast is a sign of serious mental illness as if he was running form something, but what do I know?)

to put this in perspective, i saw someone mention that this is the same as running 105 consecutive 68 second 400 meter laps without a break
