Missed a great photo bomb opportunity!

https://www.theblaze.com/news/americans-at-lsu-alabama-game-give-cnn-an-earful-say-president-trump-is-being-treated-unfairly

from the cnn video-

In footage that aired on CNN Saturday, Americans outside the game in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, said they believe Trump is being treated unfairly — and that lawmakers should focus their energy on not "harassing" the president."When the man try to help the country, and you instead try to find situations to throw out his character ... [there] ain't no perfect president," one man told CNN. "But I think he's been treated unfairly."Another woman told CNN, "I think it's ridiculous. I think it's unfair, and I wish they would focus on getting stuff done instead of harassing the president."

I didn't see the original airing, but were there any anti-PDJT folks interviewed? Or were all 10 of them over on the corner of Hackberry and 15th?

It does make me wonder why CNN would do this in T-Town. Did they really believe the results would be different? Were they solely looking for a contrast to the Nationals game? Is it to further differentiate the "dumb southerners that vote for Trump" and the blue collars that form his base vs. the DC types that still "can't accept Hillary lost"?

Personally, I think it is in MSM best interest to keep our country as divided as possible, "conflict creates clicks" as one newspaper buddy told me recently.

E. Pluribus Unum- Out of Many, One. Been awhile since it felt that way.

While I'm at it: Please tell me what it is that divides you personally from your fellow Americans.

You can't blame the news or Trump or impeachment or democrats.

What keeps you personally from connecting with your fellow Americans to find common ground of agreement or respect in disagreement?

I think it's been a while since CNN, or Foxnews, or MSNBC, have been news organizations. Seems a pretty "in the news" lawyer tweeted in the not so distant past that CNN would play a large part in impeachment proceedings. Very forward thinking.

As for me personally, I find there are more and more folks unwilling to respect others opinions. I don't have to agree with someone or there politics, religion or lack thereof, in order to respect them. Folks nowadays are quick to throw a label on you and shut down all civil discourse. Uh oh, I better be careful. There are some witty folks around here who will use blue font and accuse me of trying to start another civility thread. :)

I guess at the end of the day I am the eternal optimist who believes that we still have more in common than we have differences, but maybe you have different life experiences than me. Cheers!

I wish they would ask these people who say they think the president is being treated unfairly what their source for news is. It’s so rare to find anyone who supports Trump unless they get their news from Fox or Facebook.

Yep, and that is part of a larger issue where anyone who supports PDJT is a mouth breather who only watches Foxnews, and all anti-trumpers worship at the alter of CNN or MSNBC. Maybe it is human nature to retreat to comfort zones, on both sides, where your beliefs are echoed and reinforced in the programming...very few people I talk to ever venture out of that comfort zone, and forget about trying to independently research and learn about topics...just regurgitate whatever talking head you subscribe to.

Well, this objection (while having a certain degree of merit) is also amusing.

How many people actually watch Fox News?

Be honest.

How many?

At the end of 2016, we basically see they had a nightly prime time audience of about 2.4 million viewers.
Trump got almost 63 million votes.

Of course, it would be wrong to assume two things:
1) that those are the same 2.4 million every night (though you can assume most probably are)
2) that every single person watching them votes that way

The reason I sorta chuckle at the whole thing is because then I can look at the ratings for the other networks for the year, and they're not only higher they're SUBSTANTIALLY higher.

The average number of viewers watching the Big Three networks was around 23 million nightly.

23 million vs 2.4 million. Almost TEN TIMES as many, and I highly doubt every single viewer of the major networks voted for Hillary.

The idea that every single person who voted for Trump only watches Fox News is laughable on its face by the very numbers.

What I'm saying is, I don't think if you put people on a polygraph and asked that question that you'd get the results you think you would.

Now, I did make a mistake recently. As part of my new dwelling, I "have" to pay $15 a month for cable. I haven't watched a news show in years - so much that I can't even tell you who the hosts are (I think it's Lester Holt on NBC). But I recently decided to spend portions of one evening watching the major news networks, and I'll admit to being totally wrong here. Fox always did spin the news to the right a shade but it used to be at least semi-responsible. I had not watched them since probably 2012. I tuned in and will concede the level of cheerleading coverage was just un-freaking-believable. I was in shock.

So I'll concede the coverage is worse than I ever imagined (and I can see why Smith left).

But blaming Fox News for Trump - or even assuming that voting is purely an intellectual exercise - are both incorrect.

I read a story about the balloon guy calling into the Rick and Bubba Show today. (It is a Birmingham area radio show. The hosts are exactly what you imagine people named Rick and Bubba to be).

It said he said he watched Fox every night and mentioned Hannity by name.

If you are assuming I'm blaming Fox News for Trump that would be incorrect.

If a reporter is just going to ask any Tom, Dick, or Harry on the street for an opinion then that reporter also needs to ask how they are forming their opinion ("What's your news source?"). It's kind of like when you take a math exam you need to show your work.

I don't know what the figures are but my impression is that the vast majority of Trump supporters don't keep up with current events at all. As a matter of fact, I suspect the vast majority of voters don't keep up with current events. The Trump supporters I talk to regularly ALL say they get their news from Fox. I always ask the Trumpers where they are getting their news. They are also all Facebook readers. I suspect this is where they're getting their news but is doesn't sound like a good answer to the question where do you get your news so they say Fox.

The people that vote for Trump are people who think abortion is murder. They fear losing their 2nd amendment rights. They fear socialism. They feel like the Dems are going to over tax them and spend so much money the government will never get out of debt. They like Trump because he stands against these issues ... they think.

When I was a kid I thought Rick and Bubba was okay, but just not my cup of tea. But when I started thinking for myself I saw through all the fake patriotism and fake Christian lifestyle that they project to their listeners. They are basically the “ We Hate the Liberals from California and New England and we hope they literally go to hell for infringing on our rights to control women and minorities” kinda folks.

I wouldn't call then fake in the sense that I really believe that they believe what they are saying. As stated, Rick has basically disowned his gay daughter, and did so publicly if I recall. You have to believe what you are saying to disown yourown flesh and blood. Being from the Gadsden area, they were huge there in the early 90's. I thought they were hilarious. About 15 years ago, their program turned much more churchy, which is their right, but I was tuning in to laugh and be entertained, not preached at. I haven't listened in 12 years or so. Although Rick did lose a 2 year old son to drowning several years ago and had a very moving and powerful sermon a few days later, I am sure you can still find it on the tube, but it was awesome.

I found it to be extremely creepy rather than awesome. I never listened to them much but that was the moment I stopped listening to them at all.

Fake meaning, don’t go whining to your buddies at Yellow Hammer to make a spin on the situation once your daughter makes an open plea through the Birmingham News for a truce.

My grandmother is ultra religious, and her first daughter is married to another woman. While my grandmother doesn’t approve of her choice she still views her daughter as one of her favorite people in the world. She goes visits her, goes on long trips with her, calls her everyday, and always looks forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas because it’s a whole week at which she can spend with her.

I’m not saying Rick has to be that way with his daughter. But at least don’t look like a jackass who is scared of your daughter’s lifestyle damaging your legacy because you have been hardcore bible thumping for 20 years.

Yes I do/did feel for Rick when his son drowned, and thought his response was amazing considering. But again that doesn’t change my mind on him. Maybe Fake was a little too strong. Let’s just say “squishy”.

never heard rick and bubba (i have heard of them). but in my mind, anyone who disowns their child over sexual orientation is a horrible person.

How can you say that?

And Jesus came into the church, and saw a woman laying with a woman and said, "That is icky, and thou shalt not make me feel uncomfortable. Where are your parents, they should shun you forever."
