I hope that this thread can stay apolitical, but I'm not sanguine. If it takes a political bend, mods, please feel free to move it to the politics forum.
Here is a podcast by the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) has a podcast about Russia called "Power Vertical."
In this report, The Cyber Frontline, CEPA interviews Lithuania's Vice Minister for Cyber Defense Edvinas Kerza. Kerza is a civilian but Lithuania put national cyber defense under their Ministry of Defense, although his organization includes reps from other Lithuanian ministries.
The upshot:
Avoid FaceApp (and demand that your kids do). It takes hi-res face photos so they can be used by biometric facial recognition in the future.
Avoid D-Link wifi routers. They are "unsecure by design." They may have a password to prevent unauthorized users to use your wifi, but they record browsing history, passwords, etc. and send that info ... somewhere.
Don't use Yandex (Russian Google). That one is obvious, but if you call an Uber inside Russia, a Yandex car shows up. (Business partnership inside Russia).
Anyway, 30 minutes and worth a listen.
