Apparently Stone asked the nut job Alec Jones to ask Trump to pardon him. Where did all this human debris come from? They all seem to run in the same pigpen! So much winning!

It is ironic isn't it that Trump has skirted or outright violated the law for his entire life and has committed incredibly egregious acts since he took office, to be finally caught in an act that he obviously considered to be within his prerogative. How could an obvious international money launderer and bank fraud specialist not consider simple bribery of a foreign government to be standard operating procedure?

One has to be reminded of Al Capone, who committed every type of vicious crime for many years before he was finally sentenced to federal prison for failing to pay his income tax.

I want to say something else on this because TO ME it gets to the very heart of the issue. I've said this before but to me it's the most telling thing about this man we have as a leader.

I give every President - whether I like him (or her) or not - a rather long rope and what I think is a fair chance. Although the candidates for which I've voted have lost more than they've won, my great hope has ALWAYS been for the continued success and prosperity of the nation as a whole. I don't think that's a Christian or a conservative or a liberal or any other kind of value - I think it's fundamental decency. While I could never have supported Trump for - in fact - MANY of the same reasons I couldn't support his prime opponent, I wanted to be so wrong about him. I WANTED him to go in and self-correct, and I even hoped that his own narcissism would nurture itself into something positive for the country. I didn't think it would happen, but I cautiously hoped it would.

But after the entire thing with Mueller, the key point in everything was this: Mueller documented Russian attempts to interfere in the US elections and Trump never uttered one single word of condemnation towards them. Not one. A SMART politician would have addressed the nation and basically said, "I want to thank Mueller for his service and his findings of blah blah, and this closes all but one still unresolved chapter in the book. Outside interference in US elections is unacceptable in all instances, and while I was joking at the time about the deleted emails, a serious attempt to undermine our democracy is established to have occurred. While we cannot undo what's been done, I have appointed Person X to implement more safeguards to ensure our elections are free from outside interference going forward."

The biggest thing is that the man never once uttered a single syllable of condemnation towards the attempt. I know Earle has laid out here why Trump can't do so, but he's then under an obligation to the safety of the country to simply resign and flee to Roman Polanski's hideout.

the problem is that Trump still doesn't understand why it was wrong for Russia to help him. He won, that is all that matters in his mind. The sooner the rest of the country figures out the he only cares about Trump the sooner we can all move on. He'd never condemn Russia for this.

That is sad, and spot on. Although it makes some sense to attribute all this to his personality disorder, I still can't get my mind past the idea that Putin has information that is so devastating to this man's self-image and the reputation of his family that he is a total captive to it. If I'm right, I regret it extremely. It's not a place I would ever hope to see our country in.

Something I've wondered is that Trump could be in to the Russians for big money, given his unwillingness to release taxes and attendant records, and his business track record, which wouldn't be attractive to banks for giving a loan.

I don't think there is any doubt that Trump is being blackmailed by either Putin, Russian oligarchs or both because he is in over his head in debt to them and they probably are sitting on piles of evidence of he or his company laundering money for many years. Read "House of Putin, House of Trump" if you want to see the schematic to all of this. Even his idiot son, Eric, made the statement that they did not need the NYC banks that they were getting all the financing they needed from Russia. To the point, none of the Trump's understand that these are serious violations of any number of laws and policies of the US Government. They also don't care about breaking laws because they have never been stopped and held accountable.

He didn't suddenly come up with hundreds of millions in cash to buy those golf courses from organic cash flow, 100% certainty of that. Deutsche Bank is likely right in the middle of that in order to obfuscate the routing of the laundered funds. As others have said here, having the American President be effectively owned by Putin brings one of the most dangerous periods since the height of the Cold War.

we should also remember that an extremely large majority of the modern conservative movement is more than happy to go right along with this.

I think you’re absolutely right about Deutsch bank. It was loaning him money when no other bank would touch him. Follow the money.

IDK if, in the end, there's really any difference in Putin or his cronies, since the government there is basically an integrated criminal enterprise. Each oligarch has to have his "krysha," and Putin is the ultimate "roof"...
