The No. 2 University of Alabama softball made a two hour trek to Oxford, Ala. on Tuesday and earned a 9-0 victory in five innings in front of 1,400 of senior Mandy Burford’s hometown fans.
Burford, a native of neighboring Anniston, Ala., drove in a run and scored a run in her hometown trip as the Crimson Tide improved to 43-4 on the season. The Bears fell to 9-38 overall with the loss.

Alabama will return to SEC play for the first time in two weeks when they head to Oxford, Miss. for a three game series with Ole Miss this weekend. They will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday with the Sunday series finale scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
