Cover and boil the jalepeno (and Habenero if you choose) peppers until they lose their shine, approximately 10-12 minutes.
Quarter the onion and chop the garlic; place in a blender.
Add cilantro to the blender.
Add salt, pepper, and cumin to blender.
Add tomatoes to boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
Remove peppers and tomatoes with strainer; retain water.
Peel skin from tomatoes, discarding skin; Skin should come off with ease.
Add boiled jalepenoes and tomatoes to blender.
Chop briefly in blender (use slow setting), adding water to obtain desired consistency.
Serve fresh or later; keep remainder refridgerated

Good to see you back on the site . That one sounds pretty warn which never bothers me . I made this quick one the other night . Since there were kids with us , I couldn't crank up the heat .

Pulse in the blender until you reach your preferred consistency ....
2 large tomatoes
1 tiny can of tomato sauce
1 tspn of oil
1 tspn of either lemon or lime juice
1 tspn of vinegar
1 tspn of each sugar , salt , chili pwdr , cumin & pwdrd cheyenne
A bit less of garlic pwdr & black pepper

Add ....
Cut 1 med onion into 8ths & slice very thinly
Finely dice 3-4 of the larger jalapenos
2+ tblspns of dried parsley
.... give it 6-7 more pulses & it's ready .

When the kids crash - Pop another cold brew , add more cheyenne & salt :)

Hey L****, hope all is good with you;)

It depends on the Jalepenos. I have had them when they are hot as hades and then had them I could eat raw, kein problem. Its good though.

Here is another one that really deserves its own thread, its good! But its alot more work, at least for me since I dont a proper food processor. Its more like Pico de Gallo than salsa. You might want to get some latex gloves so your hands aren't on fire after this one.

7 ripe tomatoes
4 Jalepenos (or 5 serrano chiles, or 2-3 habeneros)
1 white onion, chopped fine (optional: add a red onion)
1 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped fine
2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp cumin
2 tblspn lime juice

1. Dice tomatoes (tip, remove and discard seeds and pulp with spoon), add to bowl.
2. de-vein and de-seed peppers and chop fine, add to bowl.
3. dice onion, add to bowl
4. chop cilantro, add to bowl
5 add all remaining ingredients to, yes, the bowl.
6 Mix thoroughly and refridgerate for 1 hour
7 Serve

I've paid the price for failing to use gloves back when I grew a few habanero plants one year . Think about the area where a man has the thinest of skin .................. Your package :eek2: I got in the shower and ended up in pain for a couple of hours :p_cry:
