I heard about that documentary from another talk forum, UAH - there's a thread with about 38 posts. Most are baby boomers (like me) and can relate to that extraordinary era in music and the arts.

I have yet to see it but intend to. I downloaded some of the Jakob Dylan duet songs from his "Echo in the Canyon" album, which are very cool.

McQuinn played a concert in Gainesville while I was a student at UF in the mid 70's. A few pics I converted from slides I took.

Had the guitar with colored flashing lights when they played "Eight Miles High"........

I love a good cover! Paramount for the song to be a good one - and bonus points for the fantastic music video editing!

In any event, Mrs. Basket Case and I saw him in 1995. St. Petersburg Florida in a place called Janus Landing. I wonder if that place still exists.

The best overall experience I’ve ever had at a concert. He lived in the area at the time (don’t know if he still does), and was playing in support of the Back From Rio CD.

Small, but nice open-air venue. Didn’t feel either alone or packed in like sardines. Good appreciative crowd, but no long lines for beverages or bathrooms. It was early spring, so it wasn’t too hot.

No youngsters because they had no idea who he was. McGuinn himself was young enough that he still had his voice and incredible guitar skills.

I know what you mean about venues and great concert experiences. Mine was The Marshall Tucker Band - February 1974 in Ocala at the Jai Lai Fronton. Just incredible!

That surf trip we took to Cape Hatteras back in '74. My friend Ross brought his suitcase of cassette tapes. I remember we listened to a LOT of Thin Lizzy......

Lead singer Paul Carrack composed the song upon discovering that bassist Terry Comer had been secretly working with other bands. Comer returned to Ace in time to play on the song.
