Can someone comment on how Cooper Bateman and some of the other Alabama commits are doing in the UA game. Got rid of cable and can't keep up with it. Thanks.

I think Bateman has looked solid, but haven't heard he's been spectacular. Howard's been the best TE, Foster the best WR, and Hill the best OL.

Yep, I've read that the DL guys there have been sick. I'm hoping we can convince someone like Jones to flip to us because he's stood out; Robert N. and Dee Liner are getting rave reviews too.

Thanks for the info. That sounds great. Any chance Hill sees the field early?
Hill will play sooner rather than later, but i wouldn't count to see him out there year one. The competition for the open Gaurd spot will be tough and its unlikely a freshman will take it. The RT spot will likely go to AK, AS or Leon Brown possibly even Brandon Greene. Then again he may blow the staff away when he gets on campus, I think a Red Shirt is in the future though.

Bateman has been good enough in the practice sessions so far, but I don't think he has really done anything to stand out that much either. Haven't seen anyone say anything bad about him, but I've yet to see anyone really commend him for standout play.

As for Hill, he's going to be very good in time, but he won't see the field as a true freshman unless it's mop-up duty or unless we have a pretty serious spate of injuries.

The Semper Fi is sort of the 3 star bowl, but the guys who really show out in that game and the practices are every bit as good as the guys who do not stand out in the AA/UA games who have 4 stars in front of their names. I'll take a Semper Fi star over a 4/5 star also-ran every time. The biggest difference I have noticed from the lesser national All-Star games is that there are few true freshman stars out there. Even the best are longer term prospects.

Good thing for Paige, we need him as a #3 NT in 2013, possible redshirt. Can't wait to see him at 20 years of age at 6'4, 320 with 2 years of Cochran. Sounds like a future NT beast.
that probably has as much to do with it being very new as anything. The UA game is the more popular of the other two because it has ESPN backing, The Army game competes because of how long it has been around. It sort of thins the crowd for the Semper Fi game.

In the Elite 11 a the staff gave Bateman the "When the lights come on" award meaning when it came to game type situations he was very good but during drills and practice sessions he was not very good (he did not make the Final 11). I expect Cooper will do well in the game but he better get real good at practice before he gets to Bama.

Regarding Hill, I am seeing a lot of Mike Johnson in him. He will be a great one before it is all said and done.

Perhaps the end result will be the same, but the trajectory will be a lot different. Johnson showed up to T'town barely 260 pounds and he needed a very long time in the S&C program to become a viable player. Hill will show up at 310 or so and shouldn't need anything similar, so hopefully he can contribute a good bit earlier.

I seen over on the ESPN UA live chat that DT Caleb Brantley decommitted today. Would we have any interest in him?

I know his short list (after Florida) WAS Alabama, Auburn, FSU, and USC... How that has changed, I'm not sure... He has burned a few bridges at FSU, and rumors are that he was scarred off (possibly) by more possible DT recruits coming in (they seem to think it means they landed Montravius Adams). This may end up with him recommitting to UF before it's all done.

On Poggi he has made plans to take an official visit to Alabama. The source we have on this is as close as it gets to Poggi. Also heard it from the other side.

On a side note David Dawson was the commitment Reggie Ragland and DeMarcus Walker tweeted about that night. He called several UA commitments and told them he was committing to UA. However UA had Hill back in the fold and passed.

From another board, but several writers are reporting Poggi will visit next week. This is big and he seems to be serious. Hoke will pull any offer and has already if a commit takes a visit. The source is supposedly his father , who is his HC and at the combine this week.

The word right now from a lot of the players at the event is that Kamara is a heavy UA lean right now. It appears he will announce on NSD.

This could end up being one of the more exciting NSD that UA has had under Saban.

We led for Poggi at one time (on the verge of a verbal), but things fell apart. I have read on a couple of UM sites where they are trying to push this off as just a nasty rumor...but it seems to have legs to me

I watched Kamara play in his two final playoff games. He is not that great of a runner between the tackles. ( Let me qualify that comment by saying I am no expert). Now in the open field he is a joy to watch. He is as smooth as silk and trying to catch him is like trying to catch lighting in a bottle. He would be super as a receiver. He caught several passes and appears to have good hands.

I sure would like to have him sign with Bama!

Kamara looked like a dangerous and shifty receiver out of the backfield during the summer 7-7 tournament. He would be a real asset to an offense. Not an every down RB, but could be a huge weapon in the right circumstances. You need players to fill roles like that to win 12+ games. Would love to see him in Crimson.

UNDER ARMOUR TEAM HIGHLIGHT TOP PERFORMERS
1. RB ALVIN KAMARA, NORCROSS (GA.)
The more I see Kamara the more I'm convinced he has what it takes to be an every down back at the next level. He has terrific lower body strength combined with terrific speed and vision, and broke off another long run during Wednesday's session to add to his already impressive week. I'm excited to see how he performs when he is turned loose in Friday's game.

RB Alvin Kamara looks bigger than you'd think. There's no doubt he's going to be a good college running back, and not just a third-down back. He can be an every-down guy.
