2014 Prospects

Apparently, Jalen Hurd committed to Tennessee today. If he sticks with it, good pick up for them. Quality athlete and kid.

He did. Tennessee will have a pretty solid class, unfortunately. They have several legacies they can lean on in this class. We'll see what Jones can do beyond the 2014 class, if the 2013 season is as below-average as it looks like it will be.

I will believe that one, when I see it. He has passed on three visits already this year.

he is coming with Roberts, his teammate, for a few hours with their coach who BTW is Sylve's father. that last bit I didn't know. so there are lots of connection between St. Agustine HS and Bama. the reason for the short stay is that the 2 have to be back for a track meet.

for them to stop by for few hours speaks volume of their interest with Bama. its a great start however you want to slice it.

Burton Burns' daughter teaches at that high school as well.

I tend to get the feeling this will be the case for him after every visit. I'm not sure where he falls in the pecking order, but he has serious talent. A firm offer could come in a summer camp.

perhaps. LSU hasn't offer yet. I get a feeling if they want him then they become his leader. at 5'9 Roberts isn't your typical Saban DB, but his skills are for real.

neither was Javier Arenas....

Arenas comes to mind when referring to smaller DB under Saban, but he wasn't a starter, only in the nickel or dime package. But what made Arenas valuable was his special team skills. He also had his fair shared of interceptions when he was on the field. His development improved dramatically under Saban tutelage. Arenas is still in the league for a reason.

As good as Javy was under Coach Saban, he may have never been recruited by the staff. They inherited him from Mike Shula. Coach Saban is pretty strict about physical parameters for each position, only deviating for really special talents.

This may be true, but if I remember correctly, Javy was close to giving up football and Coach Saban and staff really fought to convince him to stick around because they saw the potential...

5 Star DE Lorenzo Carter from GA came in yesterday and was suppose to stay until today. Was at practice and will stay until tomorrow now. Heard parents are with him and they will play a big role in his recruitment. He is team mates with 2013 signee A Kamara who I believe also traveled with them.
