Better point...what i don't know is how many QB's either school has already on hand. Honestly, I am surprised that we can get any top QB to look at us this year...unless they grew up as a UA fan. I would even say the same as RB with all we have now and coming in. CNS and crew are incredible recruiters....

He has a compact throwing motion - quick release. However, I will say that I dont think that he throws with as much velocity as DC. He throws a lot of high arching passes downfield - seems to have real good touch on his throws and great field awareness. He does have a tendency to throw off his back foot when on the run and does throw quite a bit with his feet not touching the ground (unlike DC in this regard).

It really is a toss up. DC reminds me of a Marino type passer while JP has the looks of an RGIII style of play. If you can eliminate the back foot throws and hop passing and put another 20lbs on JP, I think you have a real dynamic player at the QB position. I can see why JP might be our top guy right now; however, I dont think you could go wrong with either one.

Nice post. I've watched film on both and had almost the same impressions.

Guys like Cornwell get people excited about their NFL arm and NFL size, but I wonder how much Saban values an NFL arm/size at the college level in relation to other attributes. He’s had plenty of success with guys less physically talented than Cornwell, and that includes A.J.

There have been hints that Saban might want someone with more elusiveness. Park beats Cornwell there, though Cornwell looks pretty good once he gets going. I’m not sure I agree with Park being in the Manziel/RGIII range, though.

Park, as you noted, has a more compact release, and he releases it high. Cornwell’s delivery looks similar to A.J.’s how he cocks it back a bit and brings it more straight through instead of up and over.

It does make you wonder why Spurrier never made an offer, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Park ended up being the guy. I gotta admit, though, I’d love to see a guy like Cornwell in crimson. And I certainly wouldn’t want to essentially hand him to UT if we passed on him.

Could the fact that they have Justice Hansen committed have something to do with that? If for no other reason, I kinda hope we take Cornwell just so Tennessee won't get him and the kid seems set on playing somewhere in the SEC......

But the point being, if he is such a great prospect they would have went after him in the first place. It just shows there is no clear cut number 1 QB.

They were going after him. Also, Hansen Is a Sooner Legacy and been in there camps for a few years. Meaning they are very very familiar with Hansen. Lastly, While park is high on our board, Cornwell is number 1. The coaches willn't make a decision until the 15th they want every QB recruit to have the opportunity to throw for them and impress them.

Thanks for those tidbits of info, Jam. I've always thought that Cornwell was our no. 1 target at qb, though Park has evidently had a great camp and emerged as a contender for a scholly also.

FWIW, JC Shurburtt (director of recruiting for 247) changed his prediction for Da'Shawn Hand today. He know says Alabama lands him. link

Interesting :cool: I believe I have been trying to tell people this for months and everyone thought I was full of it. Recruiting Got to love it.

If you say a lot of things you're bound to get something right every now and then. You said we lead for Shaw but how is that working out? You said you thought Michigan commit Jabrill Peppers (who everyone predicted to UM) would go to Stanford. So let's not start tooting your horn just yet, the majority of the "experts" are leaning towards VT and there a lot more predicting him to Michigan than BAMA.

Fair enough ,but for the record those perdictions were done in feb. and i said this about hand(recently)LB- Hand- people have written us off for him ,but we are actually rising in his eyes and he is wanting to leave the state of Virginia from what I am hearing. He will be watching the opening game with VT wanting to see a lot of improvement with VT and will put weight behind what happens in this game. also said we lead for shaw ,but other prospects impressed the staff @ camp ,which he was there too. Im not going to make this a ....ing match ,but to the people that call others out. How about you make your own predictions or opinions.

Interesting to see JC pick UA for Hand atm. Would be huge to land Hand and possibly Carter although Carter doesn't seem like a slam dunk to UA. Anyone else see Humphrey's video with Bo interviewing him. He mentioned that Joshua Casher flipped him and he's going to Awbarn jokingly but for him to be flipped, doesn't that mean he would be a secret commit to UA? Funny interview and I'm sure they are just having fun but all sounds good on the UA front
 
Just checked Hand's page and after JC predicted that 5 other people predicted UA an hour after him including Gerry Hamilton. Wonder what happen to have 6 people choose UA for Hand in the span of an hour
 
Hand just did an interview on Smashmouth Radio in Birmingham. He's trimmed his list to three: Alabama, Florida and Michigan. Va Tech didn't have the program he wants.

Edit: here's the podcast.

In the interview, he mentions doing a particular workout while wearing an elevation mask, which makes him at 6,000 feet above sea level. Here's a picture.
