2014 Prospects

Jam, who do you expect to be the first few to commit, and when do you think the class will start lining up?
Bo. lol He is already the first and is a vocal recruiter. Also, LF will not care who is on the depth chart if he is an AD clone as some are saying.(on tiggerdroppings) I know for an absolute fact this hurt UGA when they were recruiting Karma. He was insulted by it actually. And wanted the challenge. And the Kitty's (LSU fans) are saying this because of our Rb's we signed. The Truth is LF has wanted to leave the state, remains to be seen if he does. We are going to be extremely picky on recruits in this class. We turned away atleast 5 5 stars in the recruiting rankings this past class.

I read on Tider Insider that there is a big time QB that is wearing Bama gear all the time and loves us but it was a premium article. Does anyone know who Rodney was referring to?

I wonder why this Oklahoma kid isn't considering the instate programs.

I know Oklahoma has been after a kid named Justice Hansen for a while. He seems to be their top target, and most consider him an "OU lock." That is probably part of the reason why there is not much interest between them and Cornwell.

Oklahoma State has offered but he doesn't have any interest.

Sounds like a smart kid.

That's interesting. I thought TI was a one tier membership site. I didn't know anyone could read the forums but not the articles...

He's not originally from Oklahoma:

David Cornwell is expected to be one of the nation’s premier passers in 2013, but don’t let the hometown fool you. The University of Oklahoma isn’t expected to have any sort of edge. That’s because Cornwell didn’t move to Oklahoma until his Junior season. He previously lived in Nebraska and Florida due to his father’s job.

Anybody know why Cornwell doesn't have an offer from Bama yet? He seems highly rated by several services, has offers from several top programs, and is the pocket passer that we seem to go after. What gives?

Saban only offers a QB after he sees him throw in person.

As someone said it is a teaser title on their main page with a few sentences per title. I go to TI, Bamaonline, etc just to see what the headlines are on these sites. Sometimes you get a good nugget.

THIS^^^^^^^^^. I would imagine we are going to take only 1 QB this year with us signing 2 and having a high quality walk-on in the past class. Going to be very particular on who gets offered and who has an unconditional offer. If history is any indication, a QB will commit early in the recruiting cycle.

I would guess we plan on taking one QB after taking three in the '13 class. Hopefully, we can land one of our top targets especially since this class of QBs is nowhere near as deep as last year.

David Cornwell, Jacob Park, and Tyler Harris are getting a lot of early chatter. Harris and Park already have offers, and I would be surprised if Cornwell does not get one soon. I think Cornwell is the best of those three, but the other two are very good as well.

Just as a friendly reminder, you should all be aware that now is essentially the beginning of non-committable offer season, where about half of the country claims offers from schools but in reality very, very few have firm ones.

It's all just evaluations at this point. The only way you know if someone has a firm offer at this stage of the game is if their commitment is accepted.

Especially among the QBs. They are essentially being "offered" to be among those that will throw in-person this summer to compete for that one spot in the 2014 class for a QB.
