Saw this on Reddit from a Texas fan explaining why Cumbie did not take the Texas OC job:
Interesting. Years ago, one year at UT would've trumped any number of years at TCU, Baylor, etc. Not anymore.

From Coachingsearch.com: Texas: Tulsa co-offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Sterlin Gilbert has turned down a three-year offer to be Texas’ offensive coordinator, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.
Apparently, Tulsa is a better gig than UT, too.

That may not be the case anymore. Texas is making another run at him.
This is getting interesting to watch. I would never have believed a guy would EVER turn down UT to stay at Tulsa, under any circumstances.

I'll second that. Been around awhile, from memory pretty conservative, non-spread throw it all over the field type OC. Should be a good fit with UGA.
I think that's generally right, although I'm kind of remembering UT fans thinking he was too pass happy. A problem when Tyler Bray's your QB. Also came up under Joe Tiller, so definitely not entirely conservative.

He brings with him a very extensive background in coaching including 3 years with the NFL Rams. I'm sure he'll do better working under a better head coach like CKS!

Hope he can recruit because he certainly cannot coach.
You are a great poster but I must disagree with this one. He has mentored a lot of young men in his days and was a good DC for us from what I remember.
