2016-2017 Coaching Carousel

Earle is right. I used to think LK could possibly be in line to replace Saban, but after learning of some off the field things, there is no way this guy could ever be HC at the University of Alabama IMO and I think he's definitely headed somewhere else after this season.

I doubt this is still the case, but when he first got to Bama he was living in a student apartment. (Not a student's apartment, before anyone misreads that).

I always thought that was strange.

Well, his transgressions have been much worse, but I'd guess that CNS is not too crazy about that habit, either...

Well, as is true for us all IMO, you reach a certain age and, hopefully, maturity level where you`re either redeemable or you`re not going to be. Everybody`s entitled to make mistakes, as long as you don`t hurt other people, and to hopefully acquire a modicum of wisdom. I certainly think that time should have arrived for CLK. He`s not a 20 year old kid. If he`s not there by now, well..... ??

That could just as easily become a serious thorn in our side as a dumpster fire for them. LSU is loaded with talent, and Oeaux and Lane are great recruiters so they could actually amplify the recruiting. Arranda is a very good defensive mind. While I think long term they will crash, I think short term that trio could cost us some SECC and NCs. LSU's problem the past 4 years hasn't been talent or defense, it's been Cam Cameron's dinosaur offense and Les's unwillingness to change with the times. Lane is certainly an upgrade from what they have had the last 4 years.
That's my concern as well. I'm fine with Kiffin going, he just needs to go at least as far west as Houston. LSU with Kiffin will be a headache for Alabama, I don't see how it couldn't be.

My uncle used to say, "If you're a fool at 40, you'll be a fool the rest of your life."

I read somewhere Texas still has a chance at a bowl depending on how many slots are open after the 6-6 teams are placed.

With McElwain it's not likely Alabama would have been in that position.
Have you watched Florida this year? Mac and Nuss are both still very, very conservative. Brad has mentioned it a few times - Saban has responded to the questions about Lane opening up the offense by saying "I've been telling these guys to do it for year." Nuss and Mac are coaching at Florida the same way they coached at Alabama. There's a very, very noticeable difference.

This is more a recruiting article about Tua, but this nugget suggests even he and his family expect Lane to head to Baton Rouge:

In addition to speaking with Saban, the Tagovailoas also called LSU quarterback commit Myles Brennan’s family. A day after Tagovailoa picked up his LSU offer, Brennan took to Twitter to say that he was looking for other options just in case it didn’t work out with the Tigers. Ed Orgeron stated in his introductory press conference that he wants LSU to have a dual-threat quarterback under center, and Brennan isn’t that. He’s a pro-style prospect.

The Tagovailoas are family friends with the Brennans, and they just wanted to let them know that Tua wasn’t considering LSU and if Kiffin was to be the next offensive coordinator for the Tigers, they should give him a chance because he has the ability to run an offensive with either a pro-style or dual-threat quarterback. Alabama won the national championship last year with Jacob Coker, a pro-style quarterback.

“The reason why Alabama has Jalen Hurts in now is because he’s getting the job done,” Galu Tagovailoa said. “But Lane isn’t just a dual-threat guy. He’s a pro-style quarterback guy, too. I was telling (the Brennans) that he has the ability to coach both.”

I honestly haven't watched Florida this season, aside from a few highlights on ESPN.

Butch Jones choking the last 2 years has more to do with Florida's trip to Atlanta than Mac. Mac and nuss have gotten in holes during 3 times this seasons and can't ever seem to turn the tide and win.

Mac is a decent coach, but he isn't as near as good as his record and trips to Atlanta suggest. I think we will get a clear picture when Muschamp's defensive recruits graduate.

It's usually more about the Jimmies and Joes than the x's and o's.

But when the Jimmies and Joes aren't prepared and mentally disengaged anybody can beat you...even if you are Bama.
