Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

If only this flight plan for were for pursuing a new Colorado coach... In which case you could divulge that ze plane's headed for BR and Colorado's acting with an abundance of caution. That given the legalization of Rocky Mountain highs out there and medicinal use caveats, they're bound by total transparency in hiring a new coach with Le Smiles' well-documented affinity for munchies...
Alas, it's only Kansas...high fructose corn syrup amateurs in sweetening a coaching offer.

But Le Smiles to Colorado, what a built-in triangulation of coaching and commercial interests and "endorsements" that would be...
I was thinking more like, what kind of grass would the field be??? You know where I'm heading with this...

Probably. I still believe that Miami, much like Nebraska, may never get back to what they were. If Richt is let go is it the new landing place for Joey? I don't know and certainly don't care.

The emergence of UCF, USF, and FAU has seriously undermined the foundations of Florida, FSU, and Miami. They all will have to adjust their recruiting models before they can rebuild.

Would they really pay him $20MM to walk away after last year's results?

From Sports Illustrated:

Kansas Finalizing Deal to Hire Les Miles as Jayhawks Head Coach

Kansas is finalizing a deal to make Les Miles the new leader of the Jayhawks football program, multiple sources told Sports Illustrated. An announcement could come as soon as this weekend. Kansas athletic director Jeff Long and Miles both did not return requests for comment. Barring a last-minute change, the 65-year-old Miles, the quirky, grass-eating former LSU coach, will be in charge of restoring respectability to a Big 12 cellar-dweller that hasn’t had a winning season in a decade. He replaces fired coach David Beaty, taking his championship swagger, oddly positioned ball cap and unusual vernacular to one of the nation’s most struggling programs.

Re: First Head Coaching Casualty of 2018

I think it’s a win/win for Lester. He will do like he did at OSU - every now and then upset teams Kansas should have no business beating.
His record may not be quite as good, but if he gets to .500 (or close) with a big time upset here or there, well, isn’t that “respectable” for Kansas?
I don’t think he’ll have much pressure - with his record at LSU, they’ll give him at least four or five years. Probably his last gig.

I guess he’ll make more than what he gave back to L8U. But I don’t see this working out.

Les’s roots are in the Midwest. I actually think he will do fine there. If he can just go 8-4, that would be considered success at Kansas.

They’ve had 3 winning seasons in the last 20 (one even). He breaks even, he’s a success there.
If you want to go further back, it’s just as bad. They have a freak winning season here or there, but their history is losing.

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

Unlike other schools mentioned on here about hiring Kiffin, I think Colorado would be a good landing spot for Joey.
Kiffin may be a schyster, but I still like him.
(No accounting for taste)

Lane has a good football mind, and calls plays that set the other team on it's heels.
If a Leopard could change it's spots, and Joey could settle down and grow up...
NEVERMIND... Neither is likely to happen.

Maybe. To me, Colorado to the pac12 has been a horrible fit. I still think of them as a Big 12 team.

Big 8

1. Nebraska
2. Oklahoma
3. Missouri
4. Oklahoma State
5. Colorado
6. Kansas
7. Kansas State
8. Iowa State

This is how it was before the Big XII ruined both the SWC and the Big 8.
