2018 NFL Draft Thread

Not Bama related but didn't want to start a new thread over it. But I was completely shocked Darius Guice was still drafted in the second round considering all that transpired with him throughout the process leading up to the draft and what was learned of his days at LSU. I'm not sure if anyone watched, but NFL Network reported that Guice commonly showed up late to meetings with teams, got into a "shouting match" with one of the Eagles' coaches. It was also learned that he was not asked if his mom was a prostitute like he alleged he was asked. It was also learned there were numerous unreported incidents while he was at LSU. Also, during an interview yesterday with he and D.Payne, Guice was asked what would he have done different during the draft process if he had the chance to go back. He said "nothing" and that "He was going to continue to be who he has always been."

I was sitting there thinking WOW! Yet there are more than a few Bama players who went later or not drafted at all who were worthy to be taken over this guy. The talent level between them wasn't that great. The 'Skins will regret taking this guy. He's bad news. It's written all over him.

I'm really surprised that Tony Brown went undrafted because he really fits the mold of a late round depth DB. He's been a great special teams player his entire time at UA and basically spent his entire tenure playing nickel or dime DB on defense. When you draft DBs in the late rounds that is exactly what you're drafting: special teams "starter" and your 5th or 6th DB.

His signing bonus will likely be higher than if he had been drafted in the 7th. I think it will work out well for him if he puts in the work and mental effort.

I think Bo is a better back than 5-6 that have been drafted but it seems like beside the top 3, all the GM's are trying to find the next Kamara. How many under 6' and under 200lb backs have been taken?

*I am no NFL or draft expert at all so I may just be biased.

He should have come back.

Bo's snaps were going to go down without improvement upon his 2017 performance. Najeh Harris earned meaningful snaps after his CFPCG performance. Brian Robinson had a fantastic winter S&C and spring camp according to people around the program. Josh Jacobs ought to be healthy this year and Damien Harris is back for his senior year. I don't doubt that this would've pushed him but he had a deck stacked against him. His 2017 ended as poorly as strong as his 2016 ended pre-injury in the CFPCG.

Lets remember the 2017 Dallas Cowboys tailback situation. With Zeke out, they weren't a very good offense. There is a need for a 2nd guy at tailback in Dallas and they potentially got as good of a 2nd back you could ask for in Bo.

This says he probably has first round talent. He will probably light the NFL up.

He definitely has first round talent - I thought he was better than Fournette. He has an injury history as well as the off the field issues. High risk/reward - he could be a 2nd round steal or a total nightmare and bust.

I don’t know. Fournette was on a team with absolutely no pass game and great defenses had the luxury of stacking the box to stopping him. I think Fournette is better than many think and this past year we started to see that.

Bo has injury issues and tip toe issues. Yeah I know Leveon Bell is looking right at the latter argument, but don’t forget the Steelers have a top 5 QB and arguably the best receiving corps in the league so people aren’t able to stack the box on them. Point is Bo is super talented but he has red flags that worry people at the next level.

I was talking about Guice, not Bo.

My bad.

I think Fournette is better than Guice in terms of NFL talent. I just think Guice isn’t nearly as physical as Fournette. Just IMO

One thing we can both agree on is that Fournette has far better intangibles. Guice's may hinder or end his NFL career.

OTOH, IMO, Guice runs with great fire - he is a beautiful runner. Fournette is physical too. Both have had injury issues.
