Re: 2018 SEC not looking to strong

What is there to worry about in 2017? It is all but over as far as NC chase. We may slip in to playoff, but with our issues I do not see us doing well if we do get in. Between injuries and erratic offensive play this is not a NC caliber Bama team. The issues we have right now cannot be fixed over night. I loveBama but this is not our year in my opinion, had a great year but the struggles lately just do not look good.
I guess we'll see after today.

If today doesn't go well, I can only hope that we show up at our bowl game -- though it's hard to play for a meaningless bowl game. I get that.

Why is it now so difficult to play hard in a bowl game? Any time you have a chance to compete, it isn't meaningless in my book. I understand that it may not mean anything as far as winning a championship, but 95% of all bowl games ever played haven't meant anything as far as championships go. We have had a couple of pathetic performances in bowls when we weren't playing for titles, so I hope our guys have competitive spirit every time they strap on the pads. If we truly believe in playing to a standard as Coach Saban constantly discusses, we should be ready and happy to play in any games we have remaining. Now, trying to get 18-22 year old guys to understand this all of the time is the hard part. Hahaha.

I hate it but facts are facts, after playing for titles a regular bowl game is kind of a let down. It is like waiting all year for that new bike for Christmas and you get a nice watch. It is a fine present but to a kid it is not something you can really enjoy for a long time. To be more on point for us grown(use term loosely) guys it is like expecting the lil women to meet you at the door on your birthday in some sexy lingerie and a cold beer. Only to find she invited all your family over for a surprise party. NICEl, but really not the present you hoped for.

Not an english teacher but isn't using too in title grammatically wrong? Doesn't the proper use of "TOO" mean too should be able to be replaced with the word also ? Like I said I am no english major so excuse me if I left off a O
No, too is grammatically correct. To is a preposition with several meanings, including “toward” and “until.” Too is an adverb that can mean “excessively” or “also.”

Well done! I avoid making any corrections because many people don't like learning grammar, but it is nice to see others partake in a grammatical discussion.

What a defeatist attitude. I expect us to win it if we make it. With a mad-on, something to prove and the most talent it is a great formula.

Re: 2018 SEC not looking to strong

I generally agree that our schedule next year looks like we can get going early with little opposition.

Unless Lamar Jackson comes back and I doubt it... Louisville should be easy.

We get Texas A&M early, even though I think they have a lot of talent and could be a good team next year. It's a good thing to catch teams like that going through transition early.

Mississippi State should be a good team next year. I would have felt more strongly about that Dan Mullen, but I still think with Nick Fitzgerald they should be strong.

LSU will be an interesting case, with those two coordinators having their second year with that much talent. It will be interesting to see if they can turn it around and become true contenders as opposed to inconsistent talented bunch.

Auburn and Georgia and potentially Florida could be difficult challenges. Florida really isn't very far away.

I think the SEC is getting stronger not weaker. I still feel like I are early schedule will be very favorable to us

Anyone find out if we are getting some reciprocity for playing Duke in 2019? That game only makes sense if we get some quid pro quo in basketball. Even than we need to add a some kind of marque game during that year, don't care if its home and home or played in Jerry world.

Re: 2018 SEC not looking to strong

Our OC is in his first year but there is still evidence of improvement in Hurts. Once he gets his "Amendole" type receiver making crossing patterns, there will be way fewer not being able to convert 3rd downs.

I agree with 92Tide that the SEC is far from weak. We must remember, however, that it was the talking heads of ESPN who tried to elevate the Big Whatever and Big 12 by announcing the imminent "death" of the SEC. How did that work out for them? 3 SEC teams in the top 6 and 5 in top 25. The other 4 conferences will be quaking in their boots when the SEC gets stronger.
