I find it odd that Hillary would say “nobody likes him.” She’s pretty disliked herself.

Yeah, it’s not like this is coming from Mr. Rogers. Unless this is reverse psychology, hoping people who hate her will decide Sanders isn’t so bad.

Bernie Sanders did 41 appearances and countless other engagements on Clinton’s behalf. He can’t literally make his people vote for someone though. That seems to be Clinton’s beef too. All stemming from this truly feudal view of politics where they assume a candidate’s word will lead to their vassal constituents to hop to attention.

Also, “nobody likes him” when the nobody is implied to be established politicians is actually more of an endorsement to many Americans than she realizes.

The repubs have shown a willingness to put team first, no matter what. That's how they won in 2016 and if the dems continue playing games, they'll win again this year. Every repub will stay in lock-step with the party and virtually every registered repub will dutifully vote for Trump, meanwhile the dems continue to balkanize the party.

Like it or not party politics are what we have now - if the dems cannot come together and rally behind whomever wins the nomination (and not destroy / undermine each candidate int he process), we're getting four more years of Trump.

The GOP party leadership is powerful. I know two of the state leaders of the party (Ohio and PA), and they are men with a lot of influence. Turn on the GOP, or fail to vote as you are told, and your career is over. At a minimum, these men will make it their life's work to end it. And if they can, they will destroy your way of life along the way.

The DNC does not run their party that way. It is very, very corrupt, but without the centralized power base that the GOP has, and seemingly without the grudges.

If I had to equate the groups to other crime syndicates, the GOP would be the Russian mob and the DNC would be the Irish mob. Both are organized, but one is willing to take things a lot further to achieve its ends.

I get all that, i really do - but it seems like you're making excuses for the dem party's division instead of acknowledging it and its weakening of their fight.

They won't beat Trump if they don't come together, regardless of illegal influence, third party votes, etc.

i'm not making excuses so much as pushing back on the inevitable "democrats in dissaray" narrative that gets pushed. it happens constantly and would be happening regardless of how contested the primary is because the horse race narrative. we got that going into 2018, but a relatively wide ideological mix of dems were elected which ended up giving them the house and at least one point of push back on the gop and trump.

we are in a contested primary and it will get heated at times, but i imagine there will be plenty of support for the eventual nominee. we haven't even counted the first vote yet.

We'll see - I'm hopeful there will be an adult in the rom when this all clears and the voters will support them instead of staying him like the bernie-bros did in 2016.

I'm just not all that optimistic at this point. And optimism is typically my strong point.

well, i will be voting in the primary this spring (still don't know who for at this point) and will be voting for whoever the eventual nominee is in the fall.

have you been watching any of the democratic campaigns this past couple of years? there is tons on offer policy wise from dems. it's not just get rid of trump.

i think one of the worst things dems could do strategically is to try to focus on swinging trump voters.

They have to. The left are voting for anyone but Trump. They are in the bag. You just have to get them to the booths. But this election will be won or lost in the middle. People who voted for Trump last time and are second guessing themselves. They will swing this election.
