Using this thread to post any Bama-related notes about the 2021 NBA combine. As of now it looks like we have 3 players in play: John Petty, Herbert Jones, and Josh Primo. Please note:

The NCAA has tabbed July 7 as the withdrawal date for the 2021 NBA draft, according to CBS Sports's Jon Rothstein.

Any player who previously declared for the draft will have to announce their decision to return to school by July 7, 10 days after the completion of the draft combine, if they don't wish to turn pro. The 2021 NBA draft is currently slated to be held on July 29.

Hope Primo comes back. I never envisioned him as a one-and-done.
He initially was ... his draft analysis out of hs had him as a first round pick:

If I remember correctly, he reclassified and that hurt his ranking a little, he dropped from a 5 to a 4 star. Hes definitely going to be a solid talent in the NBA, I just dont want him to get caught up in them trying to sell him first round possibilities this year only for a team to try and possibly get him for way cheaper in the second round.

Hes doing his due diligence which I applaud him for. I just don't want him to be taken advantage of. Just my opinion.

I assumed he would be a one and done and then thought that MCL strain might have given us another year back.

I haven't heard any news on Shack. I hope that means he'll be back.

I've been thinking the same thing actually, there are still a few other routes he could take but since there hasn't been any word of him signing with an agent, there is still a good chance that he will be back. With the deadline fast approaching, we should know something soon.

At times he was our best player last year...AT TIMES.

If that translates into a "one and done" legit draft opportunity none of us would second guess it. I still think he could go higher and get paid more if he came back and played another year at Bama (that's my non-professional draft expert opinion). :)

That MCL strain may have had the opposite effect from what I had assumed. It may have scared him and be something that is pushing him to the NBA now. 🤷‍♂️

I agree wholeheartedly. I truly believe he can go anywhere between the 5-15 range next year which would make him a solid lottery pick. He's currently projected second round with this draft from the mocks I've seen but I'm sure his camp is hoping that he could move up to the first round with a great showing at the combine.

Possibly. I just hope he does as CNS would say and he makes "a business decision."

Seems like bad business to only get paid part of what you could get paid by waiting and improving one more year.

He's got everything covered at Bama for another year: all the clothes and food he needs. Every major bill is paid (outside of a mobile device, gas etc). Hope he's patient enough to wait (if he's not a lottery pick).

And he should be a good candidate to make some $ off the NIL deal.

I thought he would be back. Didn’t really show enough consistency this year.

But now I think he’s gone. He’s carrying himself like he’s all-in.

I do not follow the NBA at all so I don't make any claims to being an expert but it seems to me the NBA drafts player on potential more so than actual production. It's obvious the talent and potential that Primo has so it will not surprise me if he remains in the draft. I would think that it would benefit him to come back for another year and take a chance on being drafted higher than he will be this year. We're going to be loaded so he will be getting a lot of visibility so IMHO the 2 birds in the bush would be better than the bird in the hand for Primo but that isn't my decision to make.

For those who want to watch the combine ...

The NBA Combine will give players an opportunity to conduct interviews with NBA teams and participate in five-on-five games, shooting and strength and agility drills. The five-on-five portion of the event will be televised on ESPN2 (June 24) and ESPNU (June 25) from 3-7 p.m. ET each day.

2021 NBA Draft combine physical stats

Interesting notes ...

They have Sharife listed at 6'3.5" ... which makes him taller than ALL of the PGs heights that are "listed" at the combine (Cade Cunningham isn't listing stats)
Sharife's height is the only thing listed in the stats so I'm going to go out on a limb and assume his stats were submitted? He literally has no other stats listed.

Petty is listed at 5.6% body fat and 6'4.5" inches tall (seemed taller)
Primo is at 6.3% body fat and listed at 6'4" flat
Herb is at 5.8 body fat and 6'6"

Trendon is at 10.10% body fat and 6'7.5 while JT Thor is 6.10% body fat at 6'8.5"
Yves Pons is shredded at 4% body fat and 6'5.5"
