Find another $50k, he might flip back. SMH 🤦â€Â
By the same token, don't get too hyped up when a player signs because he'll be transferring later on.With the way today's transfer portal works, I wouldn't get bent out of shape when some high school players decommit. The coaching staff can probably get someone better from the portal, which is a proven commodity on the collegiate level. NIL and the transfer portal have changed the game, as we once knew it, for loyalty to the program. So next.
Wonder what the average % is as far as how many in a given signed class are there 3 years later ( much less 4 or 5 ! ).By the same token, don't get too hyped up when a player signs because he'll be transferring later on.

That's the "old" typical. NIL and the no rules transfer portal have created a new typical.Typically speaking kids that transfer out aren't playing or there's been a major change, like a coach. From elite programs that is like Bama, but they usually can find quality guys looking for a bigger platform or just to win.
For the most part you may not get a superstar in the portal aside from the coaching change situations, but you can typically find a starter quality guy looking for a better situation.
This is always a factor with highly rated recruits, but it is so short sighted.I don't know about the first two statements can be truly verify, but early playing time is definitely a factor for some of these kids. I'm sure the righteous reverend was more than happy to tell him what he wanted to hear.

Spending time developing one`s craft is, for the most part, a way out of date concept for a lot ( most? ) of today`s young athletes it appears. This is always a factor with highly rated recruits, but it is so short sighted.

Once the season starts then it will be game change mode IMHO. There should be an exciting brand of football in Tuscaloosa and barney, though should be improved, will not have the same buzz. The aubs can realistically drop 3, maybe 4 games before November. They sold him on playing wide receiver over safety, our staff didn't and hasn't yet recruited him as a WR.
We will keep recruiting him so long as he takes our staffs calls, and he will, and we will see where he ends up. Not over yet.
Otoh We likley move on from Coleman and it depends on harmon, Jackson makes it a lot easier to move on there and focus on him.
I believe from multiple reports. our staff did give him options on playing WR or Safety. He is labeled as an athlete on his HS profile. From all indications, Smith wanted to play Safety at the next level. They sold him on playing wide receiver over safety, our staff didn't and hasn't yet recruited him as a WR.

I am just conjecturing here; I think at the end of the day he wanted early playing time and playing WR at auburn was his best shot to achieve both goals.
