2025 Recruiting: 2025 Recruiting Targets

Appears Bama had a very productive weekend recruiting.

From Keelon Russell's comments it is not if but when he flips since he says we are his dream school. We have a good history recently of Texas QB's with McElroy, Hurts and Milroe.

5* OT Ty Haywood of Denton, TX is very high on us and also said we are a dream and he grew up a Bama fan in Missisippi before moving to Texas where he changes from DL to OT.

4* CB Chuck McDonald of Mater Dei in Cali has named us his leader. 4* RB Jordan Davison also from Mater Dei seems high on us also.

According to Rodney Orr yesterday, Russell's flip was no surprise just a matter of when, great pick up, also Haywood is a Oklahoma lean and they are worried about the Bama visit, McDonald is a Ohio State lean but we have had a lot of success out of Mater Dei

They were leans going in before their OV's and hope we make both of them nervous. Hoping the Russell commitment gets more momentum going for us.

Russell’s view on NIL:

“I’m an honest believer that money is a thing as we go through this process, but the money that is talked about getting when you’re on campus is the front-end money,” the quarterback said. “I’m a firm believer that you’re going to get millions of dollars on the backend. I believe you may start off at $400,000 one year and you may end up at $800,000. It doesn’t really concern me because you got processes – the thing for me is getting to the next level.

“The NFL is where I want to be. I know the NFL is going to give the right amount for me. It doesn’t matter where I’m at.”

Keelon Russell shares that philosophy.

“I really don’t care,” he said when asked about NIL. “If someone is offering $200,000 less than previous schools, I really wouldn’t care because I’m going to become the best I can be, and I’m going to up the prices regardless. I’m a firm believer that I’m going to be a future Heisman winner. You got all these brand deals, dude, you can go into a school and flip $300,000 into $2 million.”

Bo Jackson just committed to Ohio state. I would expect that sends Jordan Davidson our way. And I would expect we make up ground with mcdonald.

Actually, I'm kind of glad Jackson went to OSU. If we didn’t get the original, I don't want a knock-off. 😊 Can you imagine cheering for Bo Jackson. I'd be fine with Davidson.

Davison said Gillespie told him he is Bama's top priority at RB and hoping he commits to us. McDonald named us his leader after his OV this past weekend so hoping we get him to make it three from Mater Dei in this class.

We just got a CB for 2026 in-state 5* WR Cedarian Morgan from Benjamin Russell. Big, tall WR that would be a welcome addition. '26 a long ways from now.....

4* OL Jackson Lloyd out of Cali has named his top 6 and we made it. Steve Wiltfong feels we are in the drivers seat. Looks like this staff along with Courtney Morgan knows how to recruit Cali.

“Jackson Lloyd appears to be the top offensive lineman in the West Coast by a good margin. He’s a guy who is a little off the beaten path, from the Monterey Peninsula in Carmel, Calif., not a place that’s highly trafficked by college recruiters. He’s a guy that has the profile of what you look for as a high-upside, projectable offensive lineman. Three-sport athlete, playing baseball and basketball at a high level. Does not play top competition, but has very encouraging film. 6-foot-6, 280 pounds, a reported 7-foot wingspan and is a very light-footed, fluid and coordinated athlete. The film is dominant, as you would hope for, for a top prospect playing that level of competition.
