6 foot 7, 300 pounds ran a 4.7 40yd dash??
Maybe, you never know when someone self reports.

But he is quick. His team runs a bit of a wing t so there's isn't much pass pro tape on him( they really don't pass) so that will likely need work and will need to add 20 pounds of good size. But he's got the upside of most top 300 4 star kids.

Yes, camp had him at 6'6.5" and 296lbs. He's a bean pole. Definitely needs more weight.

Just like to say that I’ve really enjoyed catching up on this post this afternoon. While I’ve kept up with our recruiting externally, it’s great to get an inside look from some of the site’s most informed posters.

I love this kid’s size and would much rather work on adding some good weight than lopping off bad weight. I could’ve sworn I read Proctor had cut down to near 330 in the spring and was excited about that only to find him weighing in at nearly 370 near media days. We need to get prospects in who can make weight and be as agile and quick as needed which goes hand in hand with staying healthier and keeping your lower joints from burning out years too soon.

I don’t want to hear “heaviest line in football (including the NFL!!!)” this season, like it’s a good thing.

Indeed. over on 247, they said even if Tank committed to Bama we would be ranked #3 overall in the composite. FYI, Bama still has the highest team average even with 21 commits. impressive recruiting by the staff!
Agreed. USC and UGA have 30 or close to 30 commits so we won't be #1 but will have the best avg ranking per player like you said SJC.

The final rankings of players will make a difference too. We have. Few 3 stars that are bound to grab a 4th star by february. If jj finch ends this year a 3 star itll be due to injury or that the scouts are completely fraudulent.

Poke, I totally agree!
He had the team best of 92 tackles, 24 sacks, 7 sacks per game!
And he's certainly not lacking offers from top programs. His list of offers is something you usually see from a high 4 star or 5 star prospect.

First, a kid named "Bear" is destined for the Tide!!! Excited about his size/potential! It's off the charts!

Concerning ratings, it's never made sense that the schools that sign the biggest classes can be ranked #1 over a school that signs the highest player average, but takes fewer players.

Seems the average star ranking would be the best way to rank a team's recruiting class.

On3 sort of takes that into consideration but 247 does not.

1. Combining Rankings from Multiple Sources:

The On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking consolidates rankings from On3, 247Sports, Rivals, and ESPN.
  • This approach aims to provide a more comprehensive and accurate representation of a team's recruiting success by incorporating diverse evaluation perspectives.
2. Weighting Commit Ratings:
  • Each recruit's rating (based on their star ranking: 5-star, 4-star, 3-star) is a key factor in the team ranking.

  • Higher-rated commits (e.g., 5-star) contribute more to the overall team score than lower-rated commits.

  • The formula also factors in the number of total commits per team, ensuring that teams with more commitments don't disproportionately benefit.
3. Adjusting for Class Size:
  • The ranking system addresses the issue of varying class sizes among different teams.

  • It uses a formula that considers the total number of commitments, giving more weight to the top-rated players while still acknowledging the contribution of all commits.

  • This ensures that teams with smaller recruiting classes aren't penalized for having fewer players.
4. Focusing on Long-Term Potential:

  • On3's rankings, particularly for basketball, emphasize long-term potential rather than solely focusing on high school performance or current college impact.
  • This approach aligns with the goal of identifying players who are likely to be drafted into the NBA.

Why is he a 3 star?
Plays at a 3a school that runs a wing t.

Go watch his highlights and tell me how many pass plays you see. Ill answer, its none. So theres certainly questions about how he will do in pass pro since he doesn't really do it at the hugh school level.

if he were at a 5a school he's probably a low end 4 star at worst given his measurables.

4*s and 5*s are great, and should form the nucleus of your team, but 3*s will end up being the most important part of your class in the new revenue sharing era. These 3*s are going to be your bargain plays, and hitting on a few of them might be the difference between winning a national championship or not.

I remember when Keon Sabb went down last year, and he was replaced by some Bray guy who was a 3* recruit. That guy ended up as the #6 safety in all of college football last season, according to PFF. I think several of the 3*s we've gotten so far in this class have the potential to make that kind of impact.

I agree with your point about 3 stars.
Bray Hubbard was twice Mississippi 6A Player of the Year, and rated 4 star by one service. His performance when he became “next man up” was notable, but not surprising.

That's fair. All of that was just to say that I feel similarly about Finch and the two receivers, and I'm liking the Bear kid also. it would not be shocking if any, or several of them became impact players.

Part of the fun is seeing which new guys can best adapt to college life and college coaching. In spite of all the analysis and evaluation, recruiting is still like Forest’s “box of chocolates.”

5* Edge Tank Jones announcing either this week or next week as expected. Fingers crossed. I think we are the team to beat but lots of $ being thrown around.

there is some apprehension from Bama fans that money will play a big part in his decision process which is not a surprised with the advent of NIL. Oregon is definitely not going away as Tank mentioned he likes Lanning and their schemes. I think in the end as stated by many sources, the home school factor and distance will keep him home.
