2026 Recruiting

I don't mean to be difficult but in the world of recruiting today I would say it looks good when they have signed and are enrolled. That's the current state of affairs in the new NIL world.

I used to be glued to recruiting but it now seems like a waste of time since so many guys sign and then flip when they get a better offer.

Signed and enrolled only means you have them for a few months before they can move on and we have had very few flip when they have been committed. Out of the 25 or so you sign every year only 6-7 will have a big impact on the program so keeping those guys is what is important as it has always been (players like Booker, Keenan, Roberts, Williams, Simpson, Proctor, Lawson, etc). I still remain interested in recruiting but have had to change my mindset somewhat based on the new world order of college athletics.

We offered WR Corey Barber out of Spain Park. Under the radar guy and plays in the toughest region in Alabama along with Thompson, Hoover, Vestavia, etc and had a terrific junior year with 73 catches, 1424 yds and 17 TD's. Plays right down the road from me and may have to go check him out.

4* CB Jorden Edmonds from GA is announcing commitment on Sunday. Appears to be down to us and UGA and we are the leader at this point. Love these tall corners and hope we get him.

He is ranked higher on 247Sports at #53 overall.

Jorden has delayed his committment.

This does look promising. I noticed in his sophomore highlight video he was playing a lot of QB so a very athletic guy. TBH, sure would like to get a commitment to open the flood gates.
Unlike Saban's past recruiting classes, we were so spoiled with most of the class wrapped up by late summer or early Fall. I think with DeBoer and the advent of NIL, portal, and transfers, we are going to have to be a bit more patient with commitments.

Yeah, because at the end of the day, the determining factor on whether they're committing will be if you're the highest bidder. That's what recruiting is about now. Sure, you'll have a few that money isn't the driving factor, but for the rest, it will be the money.

And fortunately we are in the top 10 of the bidders. Unfortunately, the top 5 bidders are going to outbid us in most cases.

The days of Bama having a top three recruiting class is over. I just hope we have the right coaching staff that can develop and scheme a team to a championship.

I don't think that because there will eventually be guardrails put on this clown show we call the NIL and transfer portal. Even with how it is we're still hitting in the top five in recruiting and that's WITH a coaching change.

Well, we just had a top 3 recruiting class in year 1 and this staff can recruit. However, the way bidding wars are going it is possible. Having a good season and making the play-offs will help off-set it and like Buzzard said there will eventually be guardrails.
