Link: 2026 Transfer Portal

My only concern would be that it might make Keelon Russell transfer, which is a non starter for me.
If he transfers so what? There is no loyalty anymore. He is 3rd string and no hint he is even close. Now could the coaches be wrong? Maybe, who knows? The whole transfer portal has me more cynical than ever before. I just don't care anymore. Some transfers surprise me, some don't. It doesn't matter anymore. I am still watching Alabama games and still interested but it will not take much more for me to quit and never watch another game.

We have one on the roster that has a potentially higher upside than Ty, whether that is true or not we don’t know, but we will find out.
Agreed, but does his upside come without a growing pain season? This kid has never faced a legit P4 defense week in and week out and can DeBoer afford an 8-4 / 7-5 season? DeBoer basically has two years left to prove himself, all depending on how next year goes. I dont think hes in a position to have a "down year" factored into his approach for next season and keep his job. If Ty transfer he better hope to hell Russell or Mack (whoever starts) don' hit a streak of "growing pains" during the season. As a fan, I'm not accepting an 8-4 season and missing the playoffs. Not when he could have brought back an 11 win QB to start.

Couldn't have said it better.

On top of that, I'd add for me, watching this coach and staff.....I'm not sure they even know what system they want and what players to look for and evaluate properly.

Russell is supposedly the highest rated recruit Bama has ever signed, but who knows with this staff.

If Russell were to play he'd get mauled every game, we have no clue what we're doing on OL in this program right now.

6 of 8 losses in 2 years have been absolute embarrassing showings. I'm surprised we don't have more kids jumping into the portal.

i'm quickly reaching that point myself

I'd say he has 1 year, but I'm still disgusted.

Whomstever he puts at QB next season will have the entire weight of the offense on them. His offenses put way too much on the QB. His offense will only ever win one way....via the QB having a good game.

If his QB gets hurt or has an off game.....there is no answer. There is no falling back on the running game in this coach's system.....or using the running game to take pressure off the QB. Its not in the repertoire.

I don’t understand fans, bench players getting so much love like Adams. Look at other WRs that transferred out and very low percentage did well. Adams return stats are bad and he didn’t get on the field. Saying he will flourish somewhere is based on what? Used to be the backup qb was the favorite guy now it’s all bench players lol

I was traveling back home and didn’t get to watch or listen to the game, so I DVR’d it to watch later that night. When I got home, I asked Siri who won before watching and just shook my head when she told me the score. I wasn’t mad or anything just dumbfounded that we got beat that badly.
So I jumped onto TideFans to read the reactions and learned all I needed to know before deleting the game. I’m way past the point where Bama losing a game gets me all bent out of shape. It’s more of a “well, it was fun while it lasted” feeling, and then I move on.
The NFL is a lot more enjoyable to watch now. I just find teams with former players and root for them, reminiscing about the good old days when they wore the Crimson jersey.

Maybe people think Adams is good because when he did play, he actually caught the ball. His returns aren't great because 90% of the time, it was a fair catch. Our punt coverage was average st best. My opinion of Adams is merely a gut feeling based on what little I have seen. I think he will do well at a place that will actually use him to the best of his abilities.

On average this is the depth of your team, non-starters but rotational players. The prevailing probability is they have future NFL opportunities so they are maximizing their earning potential now with transfer opportunities.

Very difficult to build quality depth with this phenomenon and shows why there is so much parity among teams now.
1/2 to 1/3 of the kids in the portal will not find a new school, so are they maximizing their earning potential? No , they are minimizing their educational opportunities. That should be looked at as well. Even the kids that find a new school , the majority will make less than $20k in the portal , is that really worth it?

None of the Final 4 CFP teams are playing with a QB they recruited...they are all transfers....so even the QB position is one you can find in the portal...who stays and who goes is irrelevant anymore.
Part of that is none of the coaches were at the school when those guys were coming out so they had different schemes. They are also changing coordinators which is changing styles of play. I wonder how many teams have had the same coach, and offensive and defensive coordinators from 3 or 4 years ago.

As a true frosh, prior to the injury, Cole showed some shake and wiggle after the catch. He didn’t flash that this year, maybe not mentally over the injury, but the potential is there.

Lanning? Cristobal? Golding/Kiffin? All established, all bought their quarterbacks in the portal.

Gut feelings and potential don’t mean he is good. Catching the ball as a wr is a low bar especially if you can’t get open. Comparing him to an NFL player from Clemson is not realistic. Obviously bama struggled catching the ball but if a guy can’t get open then doesn’t matter. Guy didn’t beat out anyone in order to get on the field and got passed. Just never seen so much thought on bench players that didn’t even see the field.

13 total catches in 3 seasons.

I think a 9-3 or maybe even an 8-4 season will be tolerated with Russell at QB if the team shows improved overall physicality and an improved running game. Russell is a Deshawn Watson/ Jayden Daniels type Gamechanger and the promise of an overall improved team will go a long way to quell critics.

We had Oline that couldn't do the one thing they are supposed to be able to do. We had receivers that constantly dropped passes, again the one thing they are hired to do. We have coaches that are not exactly the best at in game decisions, so some of us are actually questioning whether or not the staff can evaluate talent. If Adams is as bad as you think, why was he out there returning punts?

The same reason years ago the Braves put Rafael Belliard in at defense because he was the best defensive SS we had, but when it came to batting, he was weak at that. Adams probably would have been perfect if we were doing a lot of slant and drag type routes, but our OC loves the long developing deep routes, which is probably not Adam's strong suit. I wish him the best though

This topic was brought up at the Folks on Christmas Night (the how do you REALLY feel about current Bama Football and College ball in general). I finally had to say the Hard Core 50 plus year fan in me pretty much died in '23. The attitude of the player interviews even after a win would just make you sick to your stomach. The "Look at me" Generation is hard to stomach in today's sports. The days of letting a loss at any point ruin the day or even coming week, that's finally gone with the current iteration of the game. This is not my Granddad's program of old for certain. I finally admitted I would rather watch disc golf coverage on a Saturday in the Fall than the football game on tv, simply for peace of mind and my hypertension.
