Recruiting doesn't matter anymore. "Roster management" is much more important.

Agree.

It’s now similar to the NFL.

Pro teams don’t draft 20+ players new to the league every year and hope they pan out.

They build the team around established players and Draft 5-7 Rookies.

It looks like in CFB you can’t afford now to invest time and NIL resources in 20+ HS kids and hope they all work out perfectly and stick around.

The Bulk of the Team building and NIL spending should be getting players with CFB tape and experience that fit your scheme and then supplement that with HS recruiting.

“ …and hope they all work out perfectly and stick around.” Because they’ ll do neither.

How soon do we get to the point of incentives? Pro players will get bonuses based on yards or catches or completions or making the playoff, what round etc.

The kids don't have direct contracts via NIL with the school that I know of, but I think incentives and bonuses get introduced soon. And if that's done without the school or coaches, but via a booster....then....whoa nelly.

I don't love this one, honestly, just due to the lack of length. Seems the better IOLs we've had have still all been a bit taller, and that's what most of the better overall OLs tend toward as well. Need the reach to be able to keep DL at bay and to be able to span up to the second level and get hands on 'backers. Maybe he's more a depth player and contingency.

Donations to a collective probably aren't but many of these deals involve players getting paid directly to endorse products. This is advertising which is absolutely deductible as a business expense.
Certainly they are a business expense; but not personally deductible in full by the individual like a "charitable" donation to the schools athletic department directly from the individual.

Road grader?

The new TE was deemed to be a road grader...

Texas Tech basically saying “Hey it’s better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission”. And besides, if you follow the Michigan model, run a rogue program, cheat like crazy, win a championship and deal with the repercussions later. They’ve been stripped of that title, right? Oh wait…they haven’t.

It will be years before the system or the clearinghouse catches up with them.
