Do you happen to have a link to this conversation?
I don’t but you can probably go to WJOX and pull the podcast from this morning.

I was kind of “taken aback” by Cole’s statement. If Clark Lea did say that to him in some context, it speaks volumes to where we are probably heading. It was either the back end of the 7 am hour or the first half of the 8 am hour.

Edit: one other thing Cole said :,

When Beck and Kill arrived they told him “If a player does something stupid off the field, don’t suspend him. That “hurts the team”. Make him run stadiums or do something else.

I was thinking “okay but isn’t that kind of dependent on what they did “off the field” that caused the issue?”

So far concerning the OL, we have a 3 star freshman from Michigan, is that correct?
Strayhorn is a center, so I wouldn't really worry too much about star rating there. Centers don't typically get as much fanfare. We're just getting started in the portal, so patience is going to be key. That said, we do have a big fish visiting tomorrow that I think we're prepared to roll out the checkbook for, and he was a teammate of Smothers, so that certainly can't hurt.

The goal was actually to eliminate the advantage Alabama had over the entire sport
Yes, it was. The goal was to take away the strengths of the SEC, and I'm confident that Alabama, Nick Saban, was the focus. Same thing happened back in the day, when scholarship limits was put into place.

Mission accomplished. From 2006-2022, the SEC won 13 of the 17 national titles in college football. Bama with 6, LSU 2, Florida 2, UGA 2, Auburn with 1. Going back, from 1980-2005, the SEC only won 5 (Bama 1, UGA 1, Florida 2, Tennessee 1). Since UGA's back-to-back, no SEC team has even been in the title game itself. Ole Miss can change that, but don't hold your breath.

The Heisman trophies, the natties, all of it, the power shifted out of the blue bloods of the north and west, to the south. NIL and Portal have destroyed that.

This will help stop the bleeding on the defensive line.
well .looks like the insiders were 100% correct !! they were 3 for 3 ( Smothers, Woodson and now Thompkins).
