Here is a bit of an update on commitment dates for some of our targets.

LB Simon is set to come off the board on Monday, May 11 and all signs are pointing to the Tennessee legacy picking the Crimson Tide. Edge/DE Jackson should have a commitment date locked in soon and the staff will look to lock things down during the May 29-31 official visit. The same can be said about DL Turner, while RB Newkirk will come off the board on July 1 and CB White has a July 4 decision date.

"On the surface, there have been multiple reasons to think Simon might end up at Tennessee. He's a highly ranked, in-state prospect who has been heavily involved with the Vols over the past year, and he grew up in Tennessee's backyard before transferring to Brentwood Academy. He grew up liking the Vols and has visited them several times as a recruit. And he's the son of former Tennessee linebacker Kevin Simon, who was also a member of the Vols' staff under former coach Jeremy Pruitt and into the early days of the Josh Heupel era.

But it has been obvious throughout Simon's recruitment that Tennessee landing him is far from a sure thing. Alabama has been a legitimate threat to the Vols for months, and Georgia most recently has emerged as a major contender. The Bulldogs even seemed to have the momentum with him at one point in recent weeks.

It's still not out of the question that Tennessee could ultimately land him, given his ties to the program and how hard the Vols have recruited him. But right now, with Simon closing in on his long-planned spring commitment, the evidence suggests he's more likely to end up choosing one of Tennessee's SEC rivals unless something changes. Sources close to his recruitment again believe Alabama now might be tough to beat."

I'm seeing lots of predictions that Simon will commit to Alabama, but haven't seen any confirmation that he has actually done so.

Have I missed it?

Great pick-up! Welcome and RTR Kenneth!
