As I expected, but I'm good with it.We're #2 with (23) first place votes in the AP poll that was just released.
A few minutes agoWhen does the coaches' poll come out?
I don't think anyone in their wildest dreams would have thought we would be looking at being a 1 seed and undefeated in the SEC before the season started. Astonishing stuff.Ok just looking at the breakdown of the remaining schedule ... if we can remain undefeated past our matchup with Tennessee, there's a solid chance we can go undefeated the remainder of the season. Even if we lost during the SEC tournament, it won't affect our rankings enough to drop past a 2 seed.
The great thing for us is, they are also keep Tenn ranked high so we will have some cushion if we somehow lose that game. If we do win, however, I won't be surprised if this team is ranked number #1 after that week.
One game at a time though, Miss State will be out for blood and playing Okie on the road won't be an easy feat.
Bitter memories. It was 20 years ago the last time we were ranked this high. In that season we made #1. We then finished the reason unranked with a record of 17-12 and were bounced in the first round of the tournament.
That team never really seemed like a #1 team. This one does.It was 20 years ago the last time we were ranked this high. In that season we made #1. We then finished the reason unranked with a record of 17-12 and were bounced in the first round of the tournament.
We opened that year with a win over a very good OU team. Then beat a middling Providence and tOSU. Our first loss was against a very good Utah team. The SEC was good that year though - Miss St, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Kentucky all had good teams. A shame because we had some good players on that team.It was 20 years ago the last time we were ranked this high. In that season we made #1. If you're gonna have a rough patch this isn't a bad time to do it.Kansas down 34-41 at the half to baylor
Purdue beat Gonzaga by 18 In Portland.I figured we would be #2. Nobody looks at the games, they just see 19-1 vs 17-2 and that both teams won last week.
