Game Thread: A&M @ Bama - Games 2 & 3

Playing two today because of expected rain on Sunday.

It's been a good game thus far. Bama with 2 in the 1st and 4th. So far we've responded every time A&M has made a move.

Currently in the top of the 8th. Aggies with runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Bama changing pitchers.
 
Burrows in to pitch for Greer, hits the first batter with his first pitch. Bases loaded.

Followed by a seeing eye base hit that scores 1, Bama up 5-4. Bases still loaded with 1 out.
 
A deep shot to right hits off Hughston's glove for a hit but only 1 scores, tied at 5. Bases loaded, 1 out.
 
A walk and a fielder's choice get the aggies 2 more, A&M up 7-5. Still 2 on with 2 out.

Why did I start this thread? Nothing good has happened since...
 
Finally, the inning ends. A&M gets 4 runs on 2 just hits to take a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the 8th.

Obviously, it's time for a rally.
 
Bama allows 4 runs in the 8th on 2 hits. 3 walks and a hit batter. Gaspard will not hire a pitching coach and Bama pitchers have to be last in the league in walks allowed. Why Gaspard is still the coach at Bama is beyond me. Not hiring a pitching coach because you want to be in control with these results should be enough to have him gone. Happens over and over.
 
Hughston grounds out to 1B unassisted.
Overstreet strikes out.
Vincent sends a little flair to the 2B.

Inning over, to the 9th we go.
 
A&M bashes 2 more Bama pitchers for 3 more runs, 10-5 Aggies.

Last chance for Bama.
 
Bama manages a base hit but otherwise go quietly. Aggies take game 2 by scoring 7 runs in the last two innings.

We do not need to be swept, at home.
 
In other news, Bama softball can't shake the Gator jinx. A 5th inning baserunning error costs Bama a run at the plate, then they give an unearned run in the 6th and and lose 1-0. They are playing a DH today as well.
 
Game 3. The wife and I took a long dinner break. Bama scored 4 in the first. Bottom of the 8th the Tide gets 2 insurance runs to lead 6-2 going to the 9th. MAYBE we can get 3 outs without them scoring 4 or more.

After a 2 out double, a ground out to 1B ends the game and the Aggies 24 game winning streak.

Bama is 3-3 in the league, A&M is 5-1.

LSU sweeps Arkansas.
Ole Miss beats Florida in game 1 of 2. Wins the series. Florida leads in game three.
Vandy beat auburn in game 1 of 2 to even the series.
Missouri beats South Carolina again. Leads the series 2-0.
UGA beat Tennessee. Leads the series 2-0
Kentucky beat MSU. Leads the series 2-0.

Florida won 2nd game of DH...8-4
Vandy completed DH sweep...7-6 in 10.
 
Dang. Mizzou must be pretty good this year, and State may not be as good as people thought coming in.

Great to get that win. We are at #28 in RPI this morning with a SoS of #7, and that's not going to drop (the SoS). 12 more wins to make a regional. :)
