I'd hope the team will respond with a little fire to this trash talk. Go out and put a good ole' country boy whoopin' on the Aggies.

Didn't realize this guy is Maurice Smiths brother. So he's still upset about how Maurice exited Alabama.

That way that whole thing played out with Maurice Smith was just weird to me. If I recall he was a starter, or if he didn't start he played a good bit. I do remember there being some drama around Bama challenging his transfer to UGA, but I assumed that had more to do with sending a message to Kirby than it had to do with Maurice. I just couldn't understand why the kid would leave Bama to go to a UGA team with a rookie head coach. I guess Kirby did what he thought he had to do, but I don't see how he didn't burn his bridge with Saban after all of that...hell maybe he did, who knows.

IIRC, the SEC had a rule that prohibited transfers within the conference. So Saban was just abiding by the rule. The SEC ended up waiving it.

That's the gist of what I remember as well...but I seem to recall Saban taking some heat from the media for forcing the SEC's hand to enforce the rule...

Alabama has always been the victim of selective enforcement by the SEC. From officiating to scheduling we seem to get the short end of the stick. Smith’s transfer was just another example of trying to knock the king off their throne.

A lot of rules were changed to combat Saban.
