I read where they have secured Lewgion field for the league. I havent heard when they start. When it was first announced they were supposed to start this April.

We went to several of their games in the early '70s, when I was in grade school. They became the "Vulcans."
Initial league propaganda indicated they were going to play on campus at the various universities. All the other leagues played (and failed) at Legion Field. What changed?
I think the reasoning for choosing Legion Field as opposed to Tuscaloosa is that they are trying to take advantage of both Alabama and Auburn fan bases. If it was played in Tuscaloosa then only the Alabama fan base would be interested and vice versa for Auburn. However, if they stock the team full of Bama and Auburn players and put it in Birmingham then theoretically both fan bases will be interested and come to the games.
If the team truly is stocked with Bama players that have not made it in the NFL for whatever reason then I will be interested. Freddie Roach, Freddie Milons, Tyler Watts, Santonio Beard, and obviously a whole host of other players who were great at Bama, but just couldn't cut it in the NFL. However, if it is full of players that nobody remembers or players from other colleges then it will fail miserably. There has to be name recognition on the team like Jay Barker playing for the Thunderbolts. I think the Thunderbolts had the highest attendance of any of the XFL teams.
They have to be smart and never try to compete with the NFL and attract players that the region around the team knows. That is the only way it has the slightest chance of being successful.
