Is he in the dog house with coach.I would have thought he would have played alot earlier. Some of the younger db's come in before him.

I think its more likely that the other guys are better, but are also young and could use as much work as a unit as possible.

I agree, the "starting" secondary seemd to stay in the longest and I think CNS just wanted to give them "live" work. Fluker also was in late when the rest of the starting OL was out (which is when he got banged up).

I read it as an either or situation. Either he's not a natural corner and has progressed slowly because of that, or he has failed in some way(s) to do what is necessary to progress at his position. It can only be one of those 2 things or simply that Menzie/Milliner are already beyond him in development, which probably speaks to weather he's a true corner. Not saying anything negative about him, but there are certainly reasons a top flight athlete 3 years into the program isn't playing ahead of 1st year players. Only other thing is a possible unknown injury?

i think it' could be possible that he has yet to grow into the CB position. I really wish he would have been on offense at the WR position. I think he would have eventually been very similar to Hanks, not as good with the hands but quicker.

In watching the ESPN special on Bama, it seemed to me that Saban was constantly on BJ, and he seemed to be getting on him for the same mistakes over and over. Maybe he is just not responding quickly enough. However, if he is listed as the starter, maybe he just wanted to get the other guys some experience with the game under control.

I believe he is in the doghouse. Like Nico. But it looked like Nico may have played himself out of it some. BJ's hs coach said he wasa a natural safety but since his arrival he's been at wr and corner. May also be why CNS went after and got Menzie for the safety spot. Hope it ends soon for BJ.

I dont think Nicos in anyones dog house, Harris is simply a better player than Nico and Jordan and Saban wants him on the field as much as possible.
Harris was in the dog house last year for the laptop situation, and thats the reason Nico got the nod over him. This year they all had an equal shot to impress and it looks like Saban prefers Williams and Harris over the other combinations.

Back to BJ, he will play a lot this year and in the future, he has too we simply don't have enough bodies for him to not play, but he has only been a DB for a year, Menzie and Milliner have some experience on him.

A couple of things Coach Saban has said recently may shed some light on this. For one, he said that a choice was made early last week about prioritizing players so that the ones who will play the most will get the majority of coaching and attention from the staff. I looks like BJ was not one of the first 5 DBs, based on the unit that played throughout the first half.

Also, he said that throughout camp, it was tough for the DBs to develop the chemistry to play well together as a unit because there were constantly a couple of guys out for injuries.

My guess is that coach wants to get the unit as a whole, whether it's base, nickel or dime, playing time and a lot of reps. If BJ was not in that first group of DBs, it makes sense that he would not play during the first half because the staff was trying to get the 1st team unit as a whole to play with more continuity. Also, I didn't see any dime packages out there (I could have missed it), but maybe BJ is the 6th DB for the dime package, and we just never went to that look yesterday.

Really? You got all that from the ESPN special? CNS called BJ out a few times in the DB drills. Not sure how you jump to making "same mistakes over and over" from that.
