Wow, xylazine is only authorized in the US for veterinary use. Street name is "tranq". And someone mixed it with Fentanyl? GEEZ!
Tranq is the worst one yet. The zombie drug. Users just stumble around and it develops rotting, open flesh wounds that won't heal, often leading to amputation.

The Growing Threat of Xylazine and its Mixture with Illicit Drugs (dea.gov)

Page 2 (at bottom):
When combined with fentanyl or other synthetic opioids, xylazine can increase the potential for fatal overdoses, as the similarity in pharmacological effects can further reduce the already decreased respiratory function.

Overdoses associated with xylazine may be more difficult to identify in clinical settings, as they often appear similar to opioid overdoses and may not be included in routine drug screening tests. Xylazine has no approved antidote for human use, and as xylazine is not an opioid, naloxone does not reverse its effects. Consequently the presence of xylazine may render naloxone less effective; however, the administration of naloxone can still address the effect of an opioid on breathing which may be sufficient to prevent death.

It also doesn't help that 'homemade' pills are all over the place now, laced with Fentanyl for the 'buzz'. As they're being made in people's kitchens and such there's obviously zero regulation - a tiny bit too much fentanyl and you're dead...
