Alabama at Texas A&M series discussion

Nice win last night. When Ras gave up double and homer to first two hitter, I thought we'd be in for a long night. But he settled down and pitched beautifully after that. 7 1/3 IP from him and on Saturday, we need another good start. Alabama is 3-1 in the first game of SEC series, but 0-6 after that.

It may not be reflected in the win column but Bama is becoming much more competitive, it is unfortunate that the SEC West is so loaded this year.

Last night's win was big and then to follow that up with a 6-3 win today makes it even better. We made it too interesting down the stretch with free passes but the bullpen held on. A chance for the sweep tomorrow!

The bottom of the 5th and bottom of the 6th was the difference in the game. They had 2nd and 3rd after two singles and a wild pitch, but Denton threw the runner out at the plate on a grounder to him; and then with 1st and 3rd, Praytor threw a runner out a 2nd on a steal attempt. Fly ball to right ends the inning. Bottom of the 6th for Shamblin was K, BB, BB, K, BB, and ground ball to Denton who stepped on bag. Huge to get out of those two jams.

The Texas A&M broadcast said Jean wouldn't go Sunday. Shamblin pitched 1 2/3 innings out of pen. So does Freeman get the nod??

A 7-4 win today and Bama gets the sweep! Also moving further and further away from the bottom two spots in the standings.

Terrific game. It was back-and-forth until the Diodati home run put us ahead to stay. Great job by the bullpen as Jean did pitch but only went a couple innngs. McNairy got off to a shaky start by giving up a couple hits but settled down and kept us in the game. Freeman was very good and Lee closed the door on A&M.

With Samford and Auburn coming up I hope to see us make a further jump ahead towards that 32-33 win plateau that I think we will need to make a regional.

Does anybody know if we'll add any games to make up for the cancellation of one of the ULM games and the Troy rainout???
