Geoff Collins is the head coach at Temple. Why would we offer him our DC position?

He worked here before early in Saban's tenure, but strange that he was offered DC at this point.

He was offered I am certain. Quietly offered and quietly declined. Big $ was available, but wanted to stay since he's only 1year in at Temple. Would have been a raise for him. Coach Saban has liked Collins for a long time and has stayed in close touch.

Well my well-placed insider said.....nothing I have no insider info so I will speculate and call it inside information [emoji23].
BTW- not directed at the real board insiders who give us GREAT information. I appreciate all you do. But these days it seems everyone with an internet connection is an “insider.â€Â

Can't remember the names off the top of my head, but it's happened a few times. Not doubting, but can you imagine the eruption in the college football world if a head coach left to be a coordinator?
Crimsonaudio, I hear what you're saying, but Chavis with one head coach is one thing, Chavis with CNS and our recruits is another. While I agree with you, at the same time I can't help but wonder. IMO, he's a good DC. I don't like facing him. Please no.

As CA posted, he already makes $2 million. No way we pay him more than that.He was offered I am certain. Quietly offered and quietly declined. Yeah, but maybe he doesn't like it there, maybe he'd prefer to be a DC at a high profile program again. I don't know. The worst thing he can do is say no, if you've identified him as a candidate. As CA posted, he already makes $2 million. No way we pay him more than that.

Gotcha. I agree that the salary wouldn't be $2m+/year, but you never know if 1.2-1.5 might work. Unless you ask.I'm not suggesting Saban might not offer a HC the position, the point is I have zero belief that Bama is going to offer a DC >$2m/year, which was part of the claim.
I prefer Chizik to Chavis. Good talent developer, game planner (including in game adjustments), familiar with Saban and the conference, recruited really well at Auburn.
