TUSCALOOSA, AL – Alabama baseball fell to sixth-ranked Mississippi State, 7-0, on Friday evening at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Bulldogs claimed the series with the win while the Crimson Tide moves to 29-21 on the season, including a 12-16 mark in league play.
The Bulldogs were first on the board with a run in the top of the second and added three in the third, two in the fifth and one in the ninth for the series-clinching win. Alabama starter Dylan Smith (1-7) suffered the loss while Mississippi State starter Will Bednar (6-1) picked up the win.

How It Happened
- T2 | Kamren James hit a solo home run to left to get the Bulldogs on the board. (1-0, Mississippi State)
- T3 | State added three runs on the power of four hits to widen the gap. (4-0, Mississippi State)
- T5 | With two in scoring position, a sac fly added one and moved the man from second up 90 feet. A two-out RBI-single then crossed the man from third. (6-0, Mississippi State)
- T9 | The Bulldogs led off the inning with a pair of walks. A fielder's choice then moved a runner to third before a 4-3 groundout in the next at-bat brought a runner home. (7-0, Mississippi State)
- Dylan Smith finished tonight's game with three strikeouts to put him at 100 for the season. The 100 strikeouts tie Smith for 10th all-time on the Alabama single-season list for punchouts.
- Smith became the first Crimson Tide pitcher to record 100-plus strikeouts since Wade LeBlanc totaled 128 in 2006. LeBlanc's 128 is tops on the the Alabama single-season strikeout list.
- Brock Guffey made his first appearance since April 3.
- Jim Jarvis drew a walk in tonight's game and has reached base safely in his last 11 contests dating back to April 27.
