We literally cannot have any thread that doesn't devolve into bashing the QB.

It's so boring at this point...

Yes, you're all seeing weaknesses no one else can. You're a football genius. Thank you so much for posting the same things over and over rather than adding something interesting.

Indeed. The topic of zone reads and LSU's defense comes up and the only player that will touch the ball every single time on a zone read is Milroe....whether he's got Jam or Justice back there with him.

I understand the point.....read only for me til Milroe has moved onto the next level of his career.

LSU has had 4 close games and 2 of those have been losses. 3 of those teams (Ole Miss, South Carolina, A&M) all ran for 150+ yards on them. South Carolina and A&M both ran for over 240 with both QBs running for a chunk but not the majority of that yardage.

Also in each of those games Nussmeier threw at least 1INT. He threw for 3 vs A&M and 2 vs Ole Miss.

So, it seems to me the key in this game is to run the ball effectively and create some turnovers from Nussmeier.

Ole Miss and USC threw for a good bit of yardage on LSU but South Carolina and A&M both had around 150 passing yards. So it seems like theoretically either option could work. But Idk if the way Milroe has been playing recently gives us a good chance of reaching 280+ yards passing like Ole Miss and USC had
Those are very interesting stats, thank you.

The key to this game really is Milroe. If LSU crowds the LOS and forces Milroe to pass, he isn't necessarily capable of doing so successfully. I for one think that we underrate our roster.

Linebackers and safties are not getting drafted so early these days. I think that LBs Lawson and Campbell, and S. Malachi Moore have played themselves into first round picks. The linebackers are great. The DL is playing better since Oatis left. I say good riddance. Overton was a great addition up front. The secondary? I think that they are gaining experience and confidence, and where did this kid #18 (Hubbard) come from? He sure looked good!

I think that the OL is fine, although RT might be a bit shaky. The receivers are talented and deep. The TE room is very good and very deep. We are loaded at RB. Milroe? Well honestly, if Hurts, Tua, Mac, or Bruce was in there, would we have two losses? I think that with any of them we would be undefeated.

Can Milroe come through for us? Well, he is talented enough to do so. Will he make quicker decisions? Will he spot wide open receivers? Will he improve on short and mid range throws? He might. College football is after all about development. Imo he will need to do these things for us to run the table. We will find out soon enough.

As always, JMO.

Milroe will get his yards. He almost single handily beat us last year. Our defense is much improved, despite what you saw in the second half v A&M. We completely dominated their first qb, but when the change was made, we didn’t have an answer for him. That’s on our coaches for failing to prepare properly.

The key for an LSU victory is getting the run game going (or if you want to look at the inverse, is eliminating LSU’s run game). Nuss puts a lot on his shoulders and when we don’t give him help, he tries to do too much. We had zero run game last week. Caden Durham is a true freshman RB and he is really good, but he needs blocking. As elite as our OL has been in the pass game, they have been putrid when trying to run.

I think we have to get our pass rush going against Nussmeier. If you give him time he will pick our secondary apart. With the youth and injuries we've had back there, we can not let him be comfortable in the pocket. If we can do that, and that's a tall ask, and Milroe plays like he's capable, then we will win.

I'd like to see us commit to the run in this game. Find our identity and jam it down their throats.

Only then can justice prevail and crush LSU.

We are a young team, but the RBs can feast.
Catching up on this thread and I was going to say the SAME THING!

There have been a few times this year we have seemingly decided to run the ball and we've been able to do it during those times.

I'd love to see us start the game by blowing them off the LOS and controlling the clock and scoring points, while their offense sits on the bench.

This approach takes JM's uncertainties out and keeps Nuss on the bench.

There used to be rules about trashing players on this board, what happened to that?

Maybe there should be a Milroe complaint thread so those posters can bash their collective heads against the wall and spare every other thread turning into a “Milroe stinks” festival.

Offensive efficiency will be the key.

A sense of urgency, and some intensity.

The schemes aren’t new anymore, no more excuses.

No stupid penalties.

Make Nuss uncomfortable with some quick pressure and legal hits.

I’m to disagree with you about the linebacker play. Both had atrocious games against Vandy, USCe, and TN. The safeties have also struggled in those games. All of them had great games against Mizzo. if they carry that same mental focus to the LSU game, we will win walking away. If they play like those afore mentioned games, we may very well lose

There's the same rule. Statements like "Player "X" sucks, stinks," etc. Criticism, even constant, has never been against the rules, or we'd just turn into a cheerleading forum. The only exception has been game threads, where excessive criticism can detract from even following the game. That's when we create a complaint thread, or, in extreme cases, hand out suspensions...

Thanks Earle.

@davefrat If one of those old JM complaints threads got resurrected, for every complaint or two, there would be a JM apologist that comes into the thread and tries to explain how all of the complaints are illegitimate followed by some stats that mean very little.

For me at this point, it's come down to the thing that matters the most: Winning! Until he starts winning the big games these complaints will continue, justifiably!

Fair enough. The players I mentioned sure do have the talent. Quandarius Robinson is another talented, clutch lb. and I agree with you 100%. If they continue to stay focused we will breeze through the rest of our schedule.
