New thread only because the old one got too long.

Discuss and debate in a professional manner. No personal attacks or characterizations. If you disagree with another poster, that’s fine. Just say you see it differently and present your logic.

Fair warning: If you can’t do that, and this thread deteriorates like another one did, we’ll be forced to shut down the discussion and start handing out suspensions.

Agree Buzzard...unless there's a huge move with either JM or TS, I think we have a 2 QB system to start the year.

With two relatively easy game, the schedule sets up nicely for that. But I figure by the time we go to Madison and Georgia comes here, we will have settled on one since, you know, "If you've got two QBs you don't have one."

Yeah, I just don't see why that wouldn't be the plan if there isn't a CLEAR CUT leader at the position. It doesn't matter which one is "barely" better than the other at practice. "Barely" isn't enough separation to outright pick one. At that point, it's time to see how they both perform in games.

I agree, but I think the stage of his career played a lot into it and I think the closest thing to doing that CKD will do is have a two-quarterback system to start the season.
Didn't a great coach once say "If you've got 2 quarterbacks, you've got none"?

I believe Simpson is the one-he just has more upside and already looks to be more polished, even with less practice reps.

Yes, I agree with that if that is the plan for the entire year. But if you've got two quarterbacks who haven't separated themselves from each other in practice, it is critical to get the right one on the field. There is nothing wrong with using the first few games running both of them to see if one of them separates themselves in game situations.

If Ty is finally taking the bull by the horns, then he'll wind up being the starter at some point.

If Jalen could read the DE on the read options, he'd be a great change of pace.

Jalen still has game speed decision making issues that I just don't think can be drastically improved on in such a short time.

Hard to make up time from 10th grade, even by waking up at 4am

It is difficult for me to understand how TS could justify staying if he didn't have a commitment from CKD that, if you continue to perform and grow as a leader you will receive meanigful playing time. That could be problematic in terms of JM's goals for the draft but a head coach can only have one objective and that is to put every game in the win column. The "Old Ball Coach" for those who recall, was never concerned with his QB's having hurt feelings.

I swear, if CKD picks Simpson, and the OL has a mutiny like they did against USF, then I am done supporting this program.

I really really don't think this is going to be an issue. But I much rather go 10-2 basically regardless of the situation
OH, I don't either. Don't think CKD will make that mistake. I was just saying "if" it happened. But yeah, of course I'll always choose 10-2 over 7-5, but I hope we are looking at an even better record!!!

Hadn't even thought about going two QBs early on. That would be a brilliant way to work through the QB drama. It's a tough situation for CKD to be in with the GOAT hovering over the program (and likely still pushing his player agendas). It'll remain a balancing act for a couple years until CNS's 'guys' have all worked through the system.

Think about it: Why would both of your top two running backs transfer out?

Getting back to merit will go a long way to resolving some of our recent issues, or, the team will implode because they refuse to get back on track. Regardless, there may be some bumps in the road...self-inflicted wounds from the last 2-3 years.
