Alabama vs. Kentucky

Aight, we had all night to celebrate. It's now sunday morning and time to start thinking about Kentucky.

Clemson, Illinois, TCU will all fall out of the top 25. Kentucky at 4-0 may jump into it, although they would have to leapfrog a couple of teams who won yesterday.

Either way, Kentucky continues to get better, even without Woodson.

Hartline is the 3rd best QB we'll have gone up against this year. But he looks like a pretty good game manager with only 1 int in 123 pass attempts. Rushing is their strongpoint on offense as they have 3 or 4 capable RB's.

Possibly for the first time in program history its the KY defense that is the strongpoint of the whole team. You can dog their opponents all you want to, but the fact remains, through 4 games they've only given up 22 points and the lowest average per game in the NCAA. Also they are 4th in yards allowed.

I don't think our team will look over this game and I hope they end up being ranked in the top 25 by the time the poll comes out today so the matchup at least looks better on paper.

I think it'll be much closer than 30-13, but I don't see how UK can pull out a win on the road. UK's pass defense is definitely the strong point. They held WKU to 9 pass yards last night.

Hartline continues to improve, but this will be his first really tough test- first SEC start. I think that his inexperience will tell the tale if UK is forced to pass the ball.

We are EXTREMELY set up for a letdown loss in the next three weeks. Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tennessee. Any one of them could beat us. I said that if we win against Georgia we could win ten games this year. Like a lot us us, I now think we could win twelve...but I really doubt that will happen. Some very good teams have stumbled! Georgia, Southern Cal, Florida! At the beginning of this year, I would have said (as did every pundit) that all three of those teams were better than we are.

So, here we are, unquestionably in the top three in the nation, and facing Kentucky, who can beat us if we don't play our A game.

It just doesn't ever let up in the SEC! So our guys can't let up either. It is a great comfort to know that we have a coach who HATES letting up so bad! CNS is the real deal. Where we are as a team is entirely his doing.

It hasn't been 24 Hrs yet, but I bet Saban is studying Kentucky films already.
I'm just has happy has one can be this morning, and praying we stay healthy all year.....

Hopefully we don't have a let down game because Kentucky will come to play next week. They are confident because they haven't lost yet, and we need to not let hang around in this game......

I have faith that Saban keeps these boys focused, and now this team got to learn how to play as favorites in games. It's a learning PROCESS( Yr2) still for this young team...........

Rich Brooks is a good coach and Kentucky is a better-than-average SEC team. They will come ready to play and our kids had better not overlook them.

If this were a Shula coached team, I'd be worried about a let down. But since it's not, I'm not.

There is no question that the target is now on our backs and each team will look at our game as a chance to make a statement like we made last night at Georgia.

UK will be tough but honestly its Ole Miss that worries me. That is one nasty team in the trenches, especially defensively. That will be a flat out war in the trenches. Overall they scare me more than Auburn and I think they will be in the race for an SEC West championship.

CNS eluded to this in the post game presser. This was the perfect win for him...a dominating win with just enough loss of focus to pi$$ him off. I assure you he will not allow the players to let up. Anyone who drops their intensity will be watching from the sidelines. BTW UK in 4-0 and in first place in the East. Why would we over-look the best the East has to offer?:BigA::BigA:

It will be a tough test for our team to come out against KY and play with intensity and emotion after such a big win. KY has a VERY good defense and this is going to be a close game for a while. I hope Mark Ingram can get back to full strength because we will need him. I'm hoping TG can get his hands on the ball 4-5 times.

I had to work at the fire dept last night so i did not get to "celebrate" in true fashion. Tonight will be different. I might even drink a lil "Kool Aide."
The KY Jellymakers will play us closer and harder than Ga. did.

Great game last night guys! Im really proud. BUT, i am now more concerned. Everyone is going to play us so hard from here on out. They want to take us down. If we play with intensity for 60 min, that wont happen. There will be some letdown this year. I just pray it is during the off week. Im concerned about UK and Ole..... They are two teams that can and will take us to the woodshed if we have a letdown. Enjoy the week and I would like to trust that Coach is getting them ready. I am more nervous this week than last week this time. I knew we would beat GA, but now what?

The main fact about the Cats is their D-Line/Lbs.

They have several players who have lots of experince. They pride themselves in stopping the run. The DBs are also very good, but we must remember who they have played.

The QB can make the short pass and rarely throws deep. They have one experinced wideout and just recently during their open date were still making decisions on who plays. It is a stong weakness.

RBs are small but run hard and they use several. Tony Dixon is from Alabama. Derrick Locke is a track guy.

They have a great kickoff/punter.

Place kicker was benched and his replacement hit two short field goals last Saturday. This also is a huge weakness.

It was fun going to my sons soccer game tourney and then to church. I had a line of folks wanting to talk including the Pastor.

We do have tickets and my son is out of school so we will arrive on Friday and stay until Tuesday. I'll be wearing a Bama hat/shirt look me up.

If anyone has any questions about these Cats let me know. I don't think they can come behind with their QB.

I agree.
I've watched UK play at the beginning of the season and was impressed with their defense, but offensively they have some question marks.

Trivia: Coach Chris Thurmond, who used to coach cornerbacks /secondary for Bama (the Charlie Peprah crew) - is now coaching secondary at Kentucky - (first year there) - BUT: he is a Bama fan to his bone marrow & don't you know how hard this game will be on him (being on the "wrong" side of the field) - he's a great guy. And should be a great game.

The one thing I have noticed about the team is they appear to be getting better and better every week. The young guys are making fewer and fewer mistakes. we have also appear to be getting a lot of backups in which gives a lot more depth which will be needed as we go thru the year.I don't think we will have a large dropoff from this game. Coach saban will not let it happen.

We're very glad to have Coach Thurmond. He has the secondary doing some really good things.

As far as the defense, it's definitely good, and the offense, though slow to start, has fired up. Hartline won SEC offensive POW two weeks ago, and the offense has scored 27, 38, 24, and 41 points in four games.

IMO, we have the best offense in the SEC, and one of the best defenses. As long as we are focused, we win. We had our letdown after the Clemson win. The players learned then what can happen.

I also believe that you play the way that you practice, and I don't think for a second that CNS will let up this week...
